1 year of Hornqvist isn't a big deal. I definitely wouldn't give a 2nd round pick to get rid of the contract. He's still productive despite being overpaid and he'll be playing in the top 9 wherever he goes if Florida decides to move him.

That's not true at all. He's been one of our best forwards.

What do you see Grans being? a top pair RHD? It's a fair swap value wise.

They get Bjork and save $3.7M this season just for a 2nd. Not really that bad.

I do not trade Asplund at this stage. I'd rather put Skinner in a press box that plays so he doesn't care than trade Asplund.

I usually value a 5m cap dump at a first, but hornqvist isnt a straight dump, he has some value, and its only for next year. I would do it, maybe his numbers look good and he gets something at the deadline too. Although, to be honest, i dont get a vote, and i have serious doubts the pegulas are taking on salary. I hope they will if firsts are involved. Article on the athletic today (mailbag) that said the sabres save approx $110,000 per year by having the tv crew work remotely from buffalo. I guess other teams are doing this too, but this does not sound like a team that is taking on a 5m player who isnt producing much more than the guys here, plus prospects coming up. Id probably take it, i dont think the owner would.

At his ceiling, I see Grans as a good puck-moving 2nd pair defenseman that can contribute on the scoresheet. I dont see top-pair potential from him yet.

That being said, it wouldn't be the right move for LA to move a 19 year old RHD with an offensive mindset for a 24 year old winger who likely won't be playing in our top-6.

New Jersey gave up a 5th round pick to get rid of Butchers contract at 2.9M. Hornqvist could be flipped for a mid round pick half retained at the deadline too.

Could work. Not sure a lot of teams are lining up for it though.

If teams are lining up for a trade that means the price is too low.
