You’re around here enough. You know that he’s flat out said he’ll only play in boston, and prefers retirement to playing anywhere else…and that he’s practicing in bruins gear at the bruins facility, and acting as an EBUG and all that.

It is abundantly clear rask will sign in boston.

The difference is, he's not playing in Boston right now. Players say they'll only play in this place or that place, but money talks. Tuukka would be tempted by ring chasing, if not in Edmonton, somewhere like Carolina or Florida. It's very obtuse to assume you know for certain that a player won't sign elsewhere. We heard that with Tavares and the Islanders after all.

Ya. Except he’s addressed all that. Sure, maybe he’s lying, but he’s been pretty adamant about it.
1. He’s actively said that whatever contract he signs will not be about money, and that he’ll come pretty cheap. If money is a sticking point, that would be a weird negotiation tactic.
2. He was asked point blank about ring chasing, and said that he just wouldn’t view that opportunity as something worth leaving boston for. This is why he’s said time and time again that if there’s no opportunity for him in boston, he’ll just retire, and continue living there.
3. The only reason he isn’t playing in Boston right now is because he’s recovering from surgery.

It seems as if playing for a team other than the bruins is legitimately not an option, but what really seems out of the realm of possibility is moving across a border, and across a continent.

He doesn't care about the money, he's already said it.

"For me, it's about that pride of playing for one team and one team only. I have no reason to chase the money anymore and go somewhere else. It's going to be one of those things where the Bruins are my home, Boston is my home. I've always wanted to play here, wanted to stay here. So the money won't be an issue. We had a conversation with [Bruins general manager Don Sweeney] and I will be a cheap goalie for them."

Now, show me where Tavares said that (and even if he did, it's one guy)

Swayman has shown he's good enough for the NHL, sending him to the AHL would be a disservice. Ullmark is the man going forward. Edmonton can offer him a starting role which is the only thing they have over Boston in terms of winning him over. It would be the only reason he signed here if ever.

What do you not understand about: “I am not playing anywhere other than boston.”

Not buying into lip service for fans, there is a business side to this story.

You should read into it more, it’s not that simple. As i laid out, he answered all the questions. I’m not sure you read my previous post. I normally don’t buy into the media games either, but he has clear reasons for his decision.

It’s just an obvious answer that only doofus contrarians will reject at this point.

It's a PR answer, all he does is further alienate Bruins fans if he says "maybe". It's likely he signs in Boston but when looking towards contention the Oilers have maintained a playoff spot for the entire duration of the season. They can offer a more definitive role. Ullmark is signed long term, the Oilers have no long term plan in net. I can appreciate he is in rehab for his surgery but fact that he remains still not signed lends further to speculation like this.

Hey pal,
Seen any news about rask lately?

It’s the obvious thing that anyone on the planet could have seen coming.

Seen a signing lately? It's definitely Boston and Boston only now that Smith is back and Taxi Squads are a thing. He should be signed ASAP by Boston and be placed on the Taxi Squad.

He won’t be taxi squad eligible. Neither will swayman. Taxi squad has nothing to do with this. It was a foregone conclusion.

It was announced today that they have agreed to terms, because..duh.

What's the hold up now? At least wait another week or whatever for pen to paper before you come back here to gloat next time.

Just another example of you not willing to do 4 seconds of research. Type tuukka rask into google and see what comes up. This isn’t rocket science kiddo.

That actually is refutable. The reports were that they agreed to a contract and were trying to figure out the best time to submit it to the league. It very well could be signed for all we know.

What is very irrefutable is that tuukka rask will not sign with a team other than Boston.

Try googling it. Try checking twitter. Every single hockey news source has reported it. You want someone specific? Sadly fluto shinzawa and ty Anderson are probably the two best bruins beat writers.

yeah deal has been reached, contract likely been signed, they are just trying to time it for salary cap purposes.

That is december 22nd. It is currently january 4th. I believe this news broke on the 28th or something like that.
Flute backs this up here. Perhaps you need a better understanding of what pending means in this context. That means that the contract is agreed upon, but has not been submitted to the league.

I know you’ve struggled with this for months now, but its really not hard. You were wrong. Tuukka back to Boston was a foregone conclusion all along. Christ, Cassidy is already talking about which games he’ll be playing.
