Modest Improvements via Kessel and Dadonov

Description
I put six UFAs I think Arizona won't re-sign on the LTIR list, to give a picture of what the roster for next season is shaping up like and explain why the Coyotes would be interested in acquiring Dadonov -- without him, they'll have a hard time reaching the cap floor, and he's signed for only one more season. Obviously, except for Jaskin, they would fill out the roster for the rest of this season. (The premise here is that Jack Eichel is ready to go before the playoffs and Las Vegas wants him to become familiar with his potential linemates and teammates before then, so the Golden Knights deal Dadonov to make room for him.)

The difference between a future second and an even more future fourth is about what I think Kessel is worth as a rental, assuming he'd like to take one more shot at the Stanley Cup.

Jenik is off limits for AZ, he's one of their best prospects

Thanks for the insight. I thought he was behind Guenther, Doan, Maccelli and Fedotov in the general scheme of things, thus expendable, but he does seem to be their #1 prospect at center.

Thanks. I was floating these trades as a prelude to constructing a 2022-2023 roster for Arizona, which is difficult to do with the lack of guys under contract for next season and the shortfall to the cap minimum.

not sure why ARZ is paying at all.... VGK will be 10 million over the salary cap teams know that and will hold that against them hard. They will give players away or have to pay to get out of cap hell. no one is going to do them any favors

Very possibly true . . . look what Las Vegas got for Marc-Anthony Fleury, who was clearly worth more.

My thinking was that Arizona needs Dadonov in 2022-2023 just as much as the Golden Knights need to get rid of him in 2022, and LV has alternatives whereas Arizona doesn't.

If you’re floating ideas look towards a youth movement for
About 4 of the forward slots, which jenik is definitely apart of, and then look around the league to who needs to move cap. JVR in Philly, Barrie and kassian in Edmonton, possibly zaitsev or Murray if Ottawa doesn’t want to pay them, mrazek or Ritchie. We’ve got a lot of room to absorb contracts for picks while simultaneously promoting our youth

Who do you see likely to be promoted next season? Maccelli? Jenik? I think that it's a little early for Guenther, and Doan isn't even signed yet. Do you think that Speers will stick?

McCartney, maccelli, jenik, and guenther. I expect Wright or savoie to be brought in right away to grow with DG

No point in acquiring Dadonov unless its to flip him for more than you got him for. Also Beagle will probably be moved at TDL. I wouldn't be surprised if Washington was interested for him with 50% retention

Without Dadonov, their basic roster next year totals less than $52 million, and as I said in my Team Explanation, what free agents are going to sign with Arizona to make up the difference?

I can understand your logic here, but think Dadonov's NTC could create some issues. An option for ARI is at least offering to retain his salary and flipping him elsewhere. This adds to their salary cap next year, and also would net them some assets.

Yeah, I confess I completely overlooked the NTC, because even if it's a three-team trade list, I bet I can list one of the teams.

Vegas might have to pay to dump Dadonov, no way Arizona is giving one of their better prospects for him.

Guys nearing retirement who want to keep playing but are barely good enough to. Arizona can overpay them too. They could also go out and acquire cap dump contracts that they wouldn't have to pay for
