2nd OA Matthew Savoie

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 21, 2021
Published: Dec. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
MTL is in an operational rebuild as such so is the team itself roster wise.
I dont think MTL will do a full Rebuild but the pace of the rebuild going forward relies solely on Savoie,Suzuki,Caufield,Romanov,Ghule and Primeau success. Savoie isnt expected to be a Franchise played like Wright but he's surely going to be a top 6 players whether its top line Wing or 2nd line Center. He's actually exactly what MTL needs to slide right between Suzuki and Dvorak longterm but for now he'll cut his teeth on 3rd line

As they step up we will move out Veterans they're raplaced as needed
Each prospect has a mentor:

Savoie has Byron
Suzuki has Toffoli
Caufield has Hoffman
Romanov and Ghule have 4 Leadership types to support them
Primeau has Price for atleast another 3-4 years depending on if he asks for a Trade or not (doubtful he built a family there and his wifes business almost solely relies MTL or NY for her Fashion company so Price has no motivation to stop setting MTL Canadian Records just by skating)

There wont be any Tanking here just like there wasnt in NYR when he took over.
That said dont expect him to acquire any help if these young stars go down to injury
Only if they go on a hot streak then he'll reinforce the Youth Core /Veteran Core with acquisitions

I figure with MTL's injury history the last 5 years its inevitable we get injured again next year to which will take us right out of the playoffs again depending on whom it is. We're reinforcing our youth hoping they succeed but even if they do it would take the whole team working together following them to success which could happen but odds are we're looking at top 10 picks until Romanov ,Ghule and Primeau all solidify themselves in the NHL including 1/2 D taking the undispute top pair role (i believe it will be Ghule eventually)

Trading Gallagher didnt work out
To many fans on here are to Ignorant to bother with it treating him like a Cap dump fresh off a SCF just because he's banged up after a brief off season again from being in the SCF.

Turns out Dealing with VAN fans isnt ideal especially when
They try selling that Meyers isnt a Cap dump despite doing nothing ever
But apparently Gallagher a multi 30 goal scorer who's the heart of any team he's on is a cap dump SMH

Easier just to Delete the trade
I could give them Gallagher and they'd still want more
Yet we could ask for Meyers a clear cap dump and they'd want more then they'd give for Gally

MTL
  1. Ratcliffe, Isaac [RFA Rights]
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
6'6 Winger with a mean streak who can skate well enough to make the jump. Still needs another little bit to develop into an Armia type as he's a good screen but weak at capitalizing on tip in's and rebounds(Good prospect for the habs as he was Suzuki's wing man in his Mem Cup run protecting him)
PHI
  1. Allen, Jake
Additional Details:
PHI gets solid back up and tandem goalie mentor for Carter Hart who's been World Class in many games but has issues with inconsistency. I think allen adds value in that capacity as shown by Price waiving his NMC just to protect him in the Expansion as it was a foregone conclusion before that Seattle would take Allen.(clearly Price saw Value to make that move)
2.
MTL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (COL)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
-Conditionals 2nd becomes a 1st if he re-signs with COL
-Conditional 3rd becomes 2nd round pick if COL makes SCF with Drouin playing 50% or more games
COL
  1. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,750,000 retained)

Myers and Gallagher should be one for one. Van won’t add all of that to take on Gallagher’s contract even if his underlying xGF number are really impressive.

Not sure if this is what you were inferring m, but I wouldn’t want to trade Maillloux. I’d like to keep him. Say what you want about the pick, it’s done now and he seems to be making amends as best he can. I think you’d get pennies on the dollar if you were to trade him. I’d much rather keep him.

can't believe i'm saying this, but Myers has lived up to his contract under Bruce. Not sure he'd be moved without a defenseman coming back

Canucks decline I wouldn't even do Myers for Gallagher straight up

Yeah, either Ben Chiarot or David Savard would have to be coming back the other way, but not Jeff Petry unless Montreal adds a nice sweetener. I think Vancouver would need some good incentive to take on a contract like Brendan Gallagher's or even Josh Anderson's for that matter

Just a heads up, but conditions based on player re-signing were banned in the latest CBA, so that COL trade idea doesn't work, even if I like the idea.

Gallagher is a cap dump; Myers has been playing really well since the coaching change in Vancouver. If there was a deal to be made it would be Montreal adding picks and prospects, not the other way around. Honestly, I don't think Vancouver has any interest in Gallagher at all.

I'll take the stuff your smoking please

Gallagher still offers something
Meyers isnt even sure to finish out his much shorter term

That's like me offering up Savard for Garland
It makes no sense and is just looking at the single 1 year term vs the cap impact

Gallagher isnt a cap dump but if VAN is that dumb trading him out of Mercy isnt worth enduring this level of ignorance.
Gally is off SCF and when he's out of the line up MTL doesnt win
VAN would be glad if they could find a way to get Meyers off the roster without taking the cap hit of burying him(that's a true cap dump by definition)

Bruh. At least spell Myers right if you’re gunna pretend to know what type of player he is.

Myers is fine. Canucks aren’t looking to dump him. Plus he has 3 fewer years left on his deal than Gallagher. The cap consequences for taking in Gallagher is crippling.

Gallagher is nice but not at that contract. Me and every other Canuck fan would rather simply wait out myers, contract.

Comparing them to Garland and Savard is nuts. Garland is 25 and signed to a decent contract that carries him through his prime. Savard, Myers, and Gallagher are all signed into their mid 30s.

Myers has been playing great lately and Vancouver won't be moving him or burying him in the minor. Gallagher's production is declining, and he has a lot of years left @ $6.5 M, why would Vancouver take on that contract?
Save your "Mercy" for your own ignorance.

The Avs aren’t doing that, they don’t need Drouin no matter how you reduce his cap hit and put conditions on the picks. They are the top scoring team in the league what’s the appeal of Drouin to them?
