As Elliotte Friedman said "its an extremely light year defensively heading into the TDL"
This is similar to that year Plekky was playing his worst and still got a 2nd and 2 prospects due to the Market being crap
(After Hanzal got i believe 1st , 2nd and a 4th round pick the other Centers that year all got overpayed to)

Agree with this 100%. The odds of a 1st rd pick turning into an NHL player are so much higher than even a 2nd rd pick it’s crazy. Also it’s one thing for a team like TBL to trade a 1st because the only thing that matters is winning the cup and a fringe playoff team doing it to just make the playoffs.

Yup very much agree, my point about wanting Lehkonen too would be to at least extract some longer term value out of that 1st round pick beyond just rental Chiaroit, if I was a GM I'd be very guarded with 1st round picks and if I was gonna trade one I'd be trading it for guys with term or RFA control.

I believe Holland is on record as saying that he won't trade his first for a rental.
