I've always sorta felt like Cirelli is overrated for being on a strong team. I get that he's a 2C just about anywhere, and certainly is a nice fit on the Rangers, but for a first overall pick? Giving up on him that soon seems foolish imo. I think Kakko is the better starting piece here.

Easy rangers decline. Rangers wouldn’t do 1 for 1 laffy for cirelli with retained let alone throwing in Lundkvist as well

You obviously don’t watch him play then. Cirelli right now is way more valuable than laf

But in terms of potential he doesn’t have a fraction of it. Cirelli is at his peak right now, laffy hasn’t come close to his

Cirelli hasn't reached his peak having just turned 24. While I don't think either side does this trade based on where they are, and I do think it favors the Lightning a little, Cirelli has not hit some ceiling in his abilities in just his 3rd full NHL season.
