I'd swap Kny and Mario and I am quite certain Reedy makes the team over N. Merkley. Other than that I like this.

It’s a team that can be competitive but it’s still more of a stop gap team. Gives Bordeleau and Robins another year to mature and maybe they both play high minutes in the AHL. With the defense it will really come down to how Knyzhov comes back from this injury; with how Middleton has played I could see them letting Knyzhov walk and put in another young guy like Kniazev or Hatakka.

Middleton had a good start but has been meh the last few weeks. He supplies some grunt that Bob really likes but overall his play hasn't been that special since the first few weeks. Kniazev is not near ready, he is still a project defenseman imo. Hatakka could slot in with Merkley, looks like they are getting time as a pairing with the AHL team.

Honestly I’d be a little disappointed if they had to spend a pick in the mid 30’s to get Labanc.

It might not be in the mid-30s because it's for 2023.

I'd like to think that we won't finish in the bottom 3 and will finally compete for a playoff spot next year.

Why are Buffalo offhand trades always so weird - I don't have a problem with the value, Blichfeld has shown pts potential in the lower leagues but the Sabres could have as many as six young forwards looking for a spot next year - I also don't see why SJ would want to trade him for a 6th rd pick just very odd.

I don't know about this Burns and Ferraro have been so bad this year, they dont have that on point chemistery they had last year even Boug is spliting them up this game. So I'd rather see Ferraro with EK or Merks tbh

There isn’t really a spot for him on the team at this point, they have too many wingers as it is. He has the potential to be a good scorer as he is in the AHL. This is a trade where they let the player go somewhere else that he may have a better chance at getting more playing time. It could be another team besides Buffalo if they don’t need him.

I think it would be better to offer Kane to the Sabers at 3.5mil retained for a 6th and see if Blichfeld can be developed in the NHL - does Zucker really do anything for you? his production is down making him a little expensive, maybe if you were a playoff contender but that doesn't seem likely to me.

Even without Zucker there are probably other players ahead of him. I’d like to see him in some games this season before a deal like this.

As far as Kane, I don’t think he wants to go to Buffalo. He does have that M-NTC so I’m sure he wouldn’t go to Buffalo.
