I predicted it was going to be Caufield this year and I am really regretting my choice right now. Raymond, Seider, and Zegras are definitely the favorites, but I could see Jarvis being a dark horse candidate, but if I had to choose one of the favorites, I would go with Zegras. Personally I would want Jarvis to win it, but Zegras would definitely be a deserving Calder winner.

Raymond by a mile. Zegras is putting up a good argument now but Raymond is just so far ahead of the pack

Also Vladar should get some recognition for goalies and Knight isn't eligible

That's what I like about hockey, it changes. Beginning of the year I had Zegras winning, Seider 2nd and Byfield 3rd. But we got guys like Jarvis, Mercer, and other guys coming out of nowhere to make it competitive.

Zegras, Raymond and Seider will be the 3 finalists. Although, you need to add Seth Jarvis to this list. Dude at least earns a spot in the players that are in the conversation.

It’s between Raymond and Seider imo currently with Zegras a bit behind. I can see some arguments for Mercer, maybe Jarvis.

Why isn't Knight eligible? He isn't 26 years old, didn't play more than 25 games last season or more than 6 games in two previous seasons. He meets all the eligibility criteria.

Bunting won't win it, or even be a finalist, but he's easily worthy of being on a list like this over many of these guys.

I think Bunting is 26 and doesn't qualify.

He does, snuck through by 2 days. There are 3 criteria.

Can't have turned age 26 by September 15. (Bunting turned 26 on September 17)
Can't have played more than 25 games in any preceding season (Bunting played only 21 games last season)
Can't have played 6+ games in any two preceding seasons (Bunting only played 5 games in 2019-20)

He makes it, but just barely.

Caufield isn't that good at all. Why did you even think about having him on there?

Oh no you are right, I got him confused with Oettinger. A few weeks ago Marek was talking about his calder hot take and he said Oettinger then Friedman told him he wasn't eligible anymore. For some reason I my recollection was thinking he was talking about Knight

Its red wings tradition to be the runner up so raymond or seider will join Howard, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Fedorov, and yzerman as coming in 2nd.

I think Raymond 1st, Zegras 2nd, Sieder 3rd. But Mercer, or even Bunting could be in there, or maybe Jeannot.

1a. Raymond
1b. Zegras
3. Seider
4. Lundell

Historically, first-year rookies > other "rookies" according to Calder voters.
Zegras is the best of the bunch, but played 24 games last year. That will dock him some votes.
Guys who are 26 won't be in top-5.

And don't sleep on Newhook or Mercer.

I'm not saying Bunting is gonna win cause he's not, he's not even top 3, but he's had a better season than most of the others here. I think he should atleast be in the top 5.

It’s a 3 man race (would have been 4 if he hadn’t got hurt). Lucky enough to see Seider, Raymond and Lindell in person and of those 3 was by far the most impressed with Seider. But Raymond and Zegras are putting up exceptional numbers. Ultimately I think Raymond wins.

whichever one of zegras/raymond wins the scoring race is going to win. seider’s also a strong contender but i think they’ll go chalk with who has the most points.
