I don’t think Zito would have interest in signing Malkin

Yet he had interest in signing a 42 year old Joe Thornton last offseason lul

Every team would have interest in signing Malkin at the right price.

Doubt Zito would pass on an opportunity to sign him

Thornton is 42 , signed for league minimum and at this point in his career he’s a bottom 6 caliber F.

Malkin will probably be a top 6 F for the next 3-4 years, he won’t be cheap. With Lundell looking like he’ll be a star sooner than later and Bennett playing well, it just doesn’t make sense for Florida to sign Malkin.

Then he shouldn't be a GM

Injury problems + his drop off in play + the contract he would want would turn me off. He's also mentioned he doesn't care about the money and only wants to play for Pittsburgh

Splitting the baby here, I think aadoyle is right that Zito would definitely have interest, but Db1899 is probably right that they won't have the cap space, given that Barkov's deal will be kicking in next year, along with the fact that they'll need to extend Lundell and Weegar soon, and Malkin won't be cheap.

Malkin won’t be cheap and it’s more important to let Lundell develop. It’s likely that Lundell is the better overall player within a year or 2.

Yeah maybe if Malkin signed for league minimum and accepted a 3C role (he wouldn’t)

Maybe Debrusk + Senyshyn for Yamamoto

Don’t shoot the messenger, just a guess

Wonder if the Oilers would also make a play for Ullmark given that they desperately need help in net and Rask is coming back soon for the Bruins

I wouldn’t want to commit to Ullmark but I’m sure BOS would love to rid themselves of that contract

Think it would actually be a deal that makes sense for both sides, Ullmark has to be an improvement over Smith & Koskinen, and Skinner's not quite ready yet. From the Bruins' perspective, they could get a good return for a player that's now expendable with Rask on his way back

...are we all talking about the same guy here? Evgeni Malkin, noted top 5 player in the league for most of the last 15 years, still a point per game guy when healthy? Players like that make your team better. Dismissing even the thought of talking to him is foolish, and should get you fired from being a GM. If he costs too much for your cap situation or doesn't want to leave the Pens then that's fine, but every GM should be doing their best to recruit him if he reaches free agency. Lundell comment is stupid, there's no shot you're comparing a rookie to a dominant 1C and saying he'll be better in a year, Lundell's good but he's not a god damn generational talent.

Different views than, all good, I don’t see Ullmark being an improvement over what EDM already has. Especially long term.

26 year old AHL 4th line enforcer Brandon Baddock is making his NHL debut for the Montréal Canadiens tonight.

Are you implying that Ullmark's deal is bad? He's been perfectly fine in Boston. He has a .922 sv% this year in a new system and on a Bruins team that's taken a step back, and is only fighting for a wild card spot. He's a good goalie and it's a fair deal.

He’s last 5 starts have been awesome and if he continues that pace then sure, but yes, I am exactly saying I don’t like his contract or play

Malkin regressed last season and with his age + injuries there's no guarantee he will continue to be a top line, PPG player. Being available is important and looking at how Zito operates I don't think he'd want to take the risk with Malkin and take ice time away from Lundell. It's fair to assume Lundell will be just as good as a 36 YO injury prone player. Just because he's a generational talent doesn't mean he's never going to decline.

YES! FINALLY got a trade accepted in fantasy, traded Ryan O'Reilly and Zach Hyman for Pavelski (and while I never would've considered that in the beginning of the year, O'Reilly just has been a major disappointment this year, and while Hyman hasn't been bad, Pavelski's having a quietly terrific year)

Just realized that McDavid has played enough from this season and last season combined to make a full 82 games. These would be his stats taking his first 26 games from this season and all of last season combined:

49 Goals (career high by 8 goals)
- Woud've been tied for 197th in most in a season

101 Assists (career high by 26 assists)
-Would've been 14 most in a season

150 Points (career high by 34 points)
-Would've tied Bernie Nicholls at 16 for most points in a season.

This season he is not quite on pace for those totals, but this just shows for what an outstanding point producer that Connor McDavid is at 24 years old.

Tampa may beat them to it as they seem to like strong vets on cheap deals

Perry
PEB
Maroon

If Penguins dont sign him I could see Tampa giving him a deal to make him the 3c for a bit.

First of al Geno is going to get paid way too much to be a 3C. Second, he would be horrible for that role. He’s a top six guy and doesn’t have the game to adjust to the bottom six

I don’t want to say the best cause there are some really good duos in the NHL but have to be in the top 5 in terms of PKers
