Call me crazy but this amount of players getting covid and it not being severe as well as being vaccinated could be the best thing for future postponements. For example, the leafs could be all naturally immune as well as vaccinated, giving them an extremely low chance of future outbreaks……

He did this with Vrana + Burakovsky in WSH, filip forsberg in NSH. Now Wahlstrom + Bellows on the isles. Bellows has been labeled a bust by everyone but he really just hasn’t gotten a fair opportunity. He has 7 points in his last 7 games, usually plays 4th line minutes with no powerplay time

I just saw a few people asking (a couple pages back) why Canadian games are being post poned - throwing my guess (but also it was talked about on TSN).

Running games in Canada with like 500-1000 people max isn’t really beneficial towards making money. The league would rather post pone games to play them in the future hoping to see more revenue.

As running a full arena with staff etc but with only a small amount of tickets sold would bring in little money (or just go into the negative and lose money on the games).

So it would be best to play the games in the future and send Canadian teams south to play games with full/ close to full crowds than play the games in the future with hopefully larger capacities. That’s what I believe they’re doing and TSN1200 also echoed that thought the other day.

Brannstrom was 12th in the league in 5v5 pts/60 among all D with 400+ mins TOI last year, ahead of guys like Werenski, Letang, Hamilton, Chabot, Pietrangelo, Nurse, etc. This year, prior to his injury, he wasn’t even getting playing time at all in favour of noted ECHL level players like Josh Brown, Michael Del Zotto, Nikita Zaitsev, and Victor Mete. Be grateful Wahlstrom is at least sometimes in the lineup lmao, Brannstrom only got to play when the whole team got covid, and then got injured in his second game.

Holy smokes what a comeback by the Canes. I sat and painfully watched the Blue Jackets go up 3-0 and turned it off after the 1st, but then a bit later I got a notification on my phone saying it was 1-4. I decided to watch and man was it ever worth it. A great team effort led to 7 unanswered and well deserved goals for the Canes. It's always nice when your team scores 7 goals... and comes back from 0-4 to win 7-4. Never say never I guess. The Canes have proven that they are a hard team to doubt.

Well considering CBJ has had a decent amount of comeback losses, it's not surprising they had one against Carolina

So was listening to GMJR's talks about Vancouver and what his potential plans are

3 takeaways

1. He is not impressed with Petterson play or demeanor rn (tad bit of a concern)
2. He thinks the bottom 6 needs significant improvement and rn is bad
3. He is still looking towards the future and potential moves to help fill in glaring holes in the team even with the point streak

yeah that's pretty bad - looking at his numbers, he was the 3rd best defenseman behind Zub and Chabot. With Wahlstrom it's been two years now that he's been a regular, he still gets healthy scratched at times and is 12th among forwards in average ice time despite being 2nd in scoring. Rarely turns the puck over, good defensively, scores at a high rate. He's already the isles best forward so that's why it makes no sense the way he gets treated - plus Trotz has playoff aspirations, why the hell is he scratching a player who has 10 points in his last 8 games. Usually coaches can wait for a young player to go dry for a few game s to justify scratching them. I've never seen a coach scratch a player when he's on a hot streak.

It's definitely a narrative that gets put out there, but it's not true. Trotz gets a lot of credit for the isles past success when it was his top pair + goaltending and Barzal that carried the team.
