Holtz is their Gretzky and Geertsen is their McSorley.

Geertsen is averaging a solid 4 PIMs a night

If they decide to go all in I could see them doing it

But I feel they will go for solid depth selections unless we see a big opportunity to get a game changer

So guys like Braun, Mayfield, Brassard, Jarnkrok, etc.

I’d be ecstatic if our home town boy in Cormier makes it, but I really doubt it considering it’s adding people 20 and over.

Obviously Power and McTavish will probably make it because they’re basically already men just not in age, if that makes sense.

id toss him an invite to camp (is there a camp? i dont thinks so but idk, think you need a short list roster as your "camp") - would be crazy tho if he made it, Bedard in the Olympics would be so influential he could probably not play at all next year and still go 1st or 2nd.

Non NHL or Non Hockey?
Because I think discussion of the Olympics and other hockey topics should be allowed

The title says NHL discussion and you guys like to crack wise about how we're going to need a million of these threads to complete the season. Feel free to start up a separate Olympics thread.

Not sure what you'd need a dedicated thread for "other" leagues for: those discussions tend to be prospect-oriented and should be held in the prospects thread or in the context of NHLe, which this thread is fine for.

Failing to see the problem with discussing non-NHL or non-hockey topics for that matter. It doesn’t hurt anyone, and the discussion, though I don’t often chime in is always healthy. Nobody was ever killed by a healthy conversation. This is like saying that at a sports bar, nothing can be discussed other than sports. I can think of a million other examples as well

Decided to try and get a few cups for McDavid and Draisaitl on NHL 21. CBJ offered me Merzlikins and a 3rd for a 2nd 4th and Rodrigue. Should I do it?

Depending on Merz’s overall and Rodrigue’s potential I’d say go for it

You're not at a sports bar. You're on a forum with guided discussion topics and it's been asked a few times that the discussion in this thread be NHL-related. Much in the same way a barkeep would ask you to not make a fort out of the barstools and tables such that everyone has a place to sit, I'm asking you guys to keep this discussion focused so that when any user goes to look for an update regarding the NHL, they don't have to sift through comparisons to the Cowboys to find it.

I don't care to what extent the conversation goes so long as it's NHL-focused.

If Makar does not win the Norris then something is wrong with the NHL

What a goal

I think you hit the nail on the head on the problem.

Norris should be a D-man award, given for the best defensive prowess.

Makar is offensively very talented player and defensively also good, but scoring amazing goals shouldn't be something that warrants a Norris trophy.

I think the Norris should be for Dman with most points and then the NHL should make a "Defensive Dman of the year award" for Dman who put up stellar defensive numbers 5 on 5 and on the PK. By which who played the most minutes while allowing the least amount of goals via 5 on 5 or PK.

And they could call it the Lidstrom award

Were gonna see a Dman hit 20 goals this year. And it will be the first time since 2019-2020 when Werenski did it

Now the question is will he get to or surpass 30 scream

Joining Mike Green as the only modern era Dman to do so.

Green holds the NHL record for consecutive games with a goal for a D-man, 8 straight games with a goal.

17 pts in 8 games including 10!! goals. He was beast mode that year

Man one team who could do some damage this deadline and playoffs is Nashville. They got 11mill in space and if they decide to add look out.

As rn they got depth scoring, defense, good special teams, and goaltending
