Sure but that still looks like the return Ottawa got for EK and chychrun isn’t worth it. Id picture askarov and a 1st at best. Not that I know the ins and outs of Nashville’s system.

Nashville has one of the better defenses in the league why give up that much for a LD when they have Josi and Ekholm.

I think NSH is one of the few teams with the assets to pull it off Askarov is expended in my opinion as it’s not like NSH goaltenders are older by any means. Another probably 7-10 years of JS. Just because their LD is good doesn’t mean it can’t be better!

Chychrun IMO is more valuable then EK 3 1/2 years of locked up Chychrun whom is a Solidified Top 4 on pretty much any team in the league no hesitation

That is true but they are solid defensively and need more scoring.

You're right, the Predators offense has mostly come from the same few guys, they could use some more scoring.

It's just a 4th round pick, but Minnesota isn't trading a pick for a lesser g they don't need

It's a massive overpay for a team that already has two LD with significant term ahead of Chychrun on the depth chart. Yes, getting better at any spot of the lineup is every team's goal, but using up the amount of assets you want for Chychrun and allocating that much cap space to someone who'd be stuck on the 3rd pair is madness.

3 1/2 years of him locked up on a reasonable hit is very valuable, no denying that, but not in the same ballpark as the defensemen who was clearly top 2-3 in the nhl for like 5 straight years and in his prime.

Nashville is probably truly the last team that would go after Chychrun

If Nashville is buying a top 6 scoring winger should be the only thing they should be should be going after
