Description

Could this trade happen? Chicago clears Johnson and Connolly's contracts at the expense of Murphy. They gain a cheap depth forward with some upside and a pick in a loaded draft. If this trade is lopsided that pick can be the 2nd rounder and/or a B prospect could be added.

I love the D-pairings and the depth of the forward group is so nice.

I overpay Manson, Larsson, and Holtby to entice them to Buffalo.

Love the idea of weaponizing cap space, but I don't see the Hawks moving Murphy to make that happen.

As a Leafs fan, I saw various attempts by ACGMs to acquire him prior to his extension...... Hawks fans across the board have a higher than high value on him, as they should. His shut down game is among the best in the league.

Right idea, wrong target..... Strome or Kubilik would be more likely if the Sabres threw in something. Otherwise, it's a high end pick I think.

Terrible idea to overpay UFAs just to get them to come to Sabres. You saw unhappy Eichel was despite getting 10m. Just don't waste long term cap anyway.
Like your idea with the Chicago trade, but Hawks just can't do that to Murphy, a guy who resigned to stay a Hawk.
