Zero interest in taking on Zucker's contract. What do you want for Carter?

Figured as much with PIT's recent surge, and the unlikelihood of them falling out of the playoff picture now. Too bad, would have loved him as rental depth piece.

I agree with you there even if PIT cracks the top-3 in the metro.....
i don't think they should trade him, but they could prob get a replacement middle-6 winger + another asset to make it worth it...

Why would NSH want another C? I feel like their wingers are a bit under average, other than Forsberg of course. NSH is in the playoff hunt, and I see them being buyers. However, I do not see them moving any high end picks or prospects. Although $5.5M is a bit much, I will agree, adding Zucker for a 3rd seems like a very good deal. He can definitely play in the top 6, and if anything, can easily be moved next deadline if NSH is out of it. I see little risk and the reward can be great. From PIT's end, the reason I trade him is because we are going to need cap this offseason.. I do not see that being an issue for NSH.

Zucker is a cap dump with term, who hasn't played well for a long time now. Another top 6 winger would be nice, but Zucker isn't that guy anymore. While NSH is unexpectedly looking like a solid bet to make the playoffs, this still doesn't look like the season for them to sell the farm and go all in on a playoff run.

I like Carter for the Preds because I think he'd excel as the 4C. Novak has been fine, but he's still a green rookie, and hasn't had much scoring success to date. I think Carter's Cup experience would be a boon for the whole team, and he could help Tomasino find the next level to his game. Carter's been having a strong season at his age, and he's got the size that John Hynes seems to favour. The fact that he's a UFA is a plus, as NSH has Novak and Glass who'll need roster spots next season. A vet addition with term remaining would take a roster spot away from them, hindering their development.

Exactly. It's a lose-lose situation because
1. Rust is a UFA at the end of the year
2. They know he's not coming back
