DAL blockbuster explained

Description
Obviously this is a highly unlikely trade, but I thought the idea of it was intresting. This makes tons of sense for PIT imo. We know that Letang isnt a gaurentee to resign. If he doesn't end up resigning, we also cant gaurentee that we get one of the big RHD in FA. This trade allows us to solve both possible issues. It also makes sense for DAL. They trade Klingberg who again just like Letang isnt a gaurentee to resign. They get Marino who Is 1. Younger, and 2. Locked up for the next 6 years. The point of adding Rust and Gurianov is really just to help Pittsburgh. Obviously Erod has proved he's a top 6 forward, but that means one of the top 6 wingers must go. I chose Rust because he hasnt been in the lineup much and could potentially ruin the lines. So we trade Rust and get Gurianov who could play a top 9 role on this team. Let me know in the comments if the value is fair or if something needs to be added from either team.

I'm not hugely knowledgeable on the players but I feel like given their contracts and age, Marino is probably slightly more valuable here.

I think Pitt is giving up a bit too much.

I'll agree but I'm a PIT fan so admittedly there is a slight bias towards marino/rust's value...

@Imagine875948
this is a really intriguing trade...

from DAL's perspective... they are probably in need of at least a year or two of a retool... marino is a good long-term piece locked up at an affordable cost with 1st pair potential and 90th percentile defense metrics...
rust is a veteran 30-goal winger who they can flip for a pick at the deadline (at least a 2nd if not more)

from PIT's perspective...
they get gurianov who's younger but produces less than rust... but he's an RFA so they will get some control... as opposed to rust who (if the rumours are true) won't be retuning to PIT for less than a long term contract (rumoured 6 years @ $6M)...
we get klingberg who is letang insurance if he doesn't want a discount or short term (also rumoured)... if letang resigns at a discount like say $5-6M then either we let klingberg walk or clear some cap on D to resign him... AKA any of our 3 LHD making over $4M...

honestly PIT adds a pick or prosect to even it out....i doubt as much as a 1st but this is actually, i think a solid trade for both sides...
i hate to lose marino but it's technically a smart move for the team...
if pit's giving too much maybe we could snag holtby to "1B Jarry" as a rental? idk just a thought....
very good "hockey trade"... well thought out, great job...

Don’t think the idea is bad but the value just doesn’t thread the needle for Dallas

This trade makes zero sense for the pens. They have their future 1RHD signed to a fantastic long term contract. And they trade him, a top 6 forward, and a 1st for a 3rd liner and Letang lite. Who btw wouldn’t be a guarantee to sign with us either. I’ll keep Marino, if we can re-sign rust and/or Letang so be it. If we can’t we move on and go after Klingberg. We will have money to spend in the offseason. Especially if we could trade Zucker and/or Matheson.
