Trying to improve with limited means

Created by: BruinsCharlies
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 27, 2021
Published: Dec. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not trading any firsts, seconds or thirds in the next two drafts or Lohrei, Lysell in an attempt to improve this team. Just not going to bankrupt the future in what is almost assuredly a futile attempt to make this team a Cup contender in the present. That being said Sweeney has constructed a roster that makes it very difficult to improve this team as it is. This is my attempt at it. Also want to give Studnicka a legitimate chance to prove his worth as an NHL player. Folignio and Smith can't do any worse with him as their center than what they have produced so far with Coyle/Haula/Nosek in the middle so give him his shot. Wennberg is not the sexy add but he is averaging 19M/game for the Kraken.

Committing to wennberg for three years might not be the best idea.

It's a reasonable cap hit for a player who just might fit at 2C, will be 29 when his contract finishes and can handle 16-18M/game. Competency does have some cost. The other options are to overpay in assets for a Hertl et al which I don't think is a wise choice or go with the mess that is the status quo. It's not perfect but I still choose this option. Am open to different/better ideas.

Must be. If so it's another huge failure by Sweeney because his chosen alternative was spending 7.9M on Haula, Folignio and Nosek and their combined 3G and 10A and those stats just begin to tell the dismal story. Wennberg is a bargain by comparison.

If by meh the coach can tap you on the shoulder anytime during a game and you can at least compete against the oppositions better players and not drag down the better players on your own team then I'm all for it. Like I said above at least he is competent. This team has too many holes for him alone too be the solution but it's an improvement over what Sweeney brought in this offseason. The only solution to that is a minimum of two years waiting for 3 awful contracts to expire and others to start to wind down.

The contract if awful for what he brings, don't see SEA moving him, and Coyle is pretty much the same player so what's the point anyway. He doesn't move the needle
