If we had Cernak and Sergachev I would love to see a 13/5 or even a 14/4 (just for fun). I also don't think they leave Fortier out (over ABB or Nash)

ABB is definitely the odd man out. When it's been a choice between Barre-Boulet and and has won.

Fortier had a bad game against MTL. I'd sit him for a game, he's not making or breaking the team whether he's in the lineup or not at this point.

Coaches do this all the time? ABB had a brutal give away which resulted in him being benched and then later sent down to the AHL (the last time he was sent down). Although I didn't watch the previous game, i agree, if Fortier wasn't good (particularly in his own zone), he will likely sit out because of it. He won't be sticking on the team once we are back full strength regardless.

Dude made a bad pass god awful decision, however played well other than that play . No better way to build a player up than benching him for 1 mistake. That's awful player development strategy

It not just one play. He's been on a little bit of a slide last couple games. At this point a game out the lineup, but still around the team, could be fantastic for him. Coaches give him a couple things to look out for
"What where Killer goes on breakouts. See what Pally does if there's a turnover" etc.

There's times to stick by your guy and keep them in the lineup. Then there's times to stick by your guy and sit him for a game.

He's got 9 NHL games under his belt I still think sitting right now is more detrimental than productive. If it were any other poster I might say he was thinking your way however dude said the same thing after one bad play by Foote and the very next game Hedman coughed up 3 or 4 turnovers and nothing. It appears only rookies can't make mistakes without being benched just an observation.

You gotta treat rookies differently tho. Heddy makes a turnover/ bad play he knows what he needs to do to make up for it.
Katchouk has been scratched a couple times here or there. Stammer was a healthy scratch all those years ago.

There's more minutes than rookies right now. Manage all their games is probably the right idea. Joseph was in and out of the lineup a ton and now he's really starting to show up.

And to further this point, our development system seems just fine.. eg. back to back Stanley cup champions and lower drafted prospects not only making the team but also heavily contributing to success.

This isn't house league, this is the NHL lol. You've clearly never played competitive hockey then.

This is why the game should've been postponed for starters with half of Tampa's regs out. Also, not calling up the only goaltender from Syracuse worth anything, Miftakhov, basically ensured this game was over before it began. Tampa could've won this game with some NHL quality netminding, but not with bad AHL level tending. In the end, the Panthers fans can celebrate a rather meaningless win like they've won the Cup(as per usual with them), and the Lightning will just beat them when the games really matter(also as per usual).
