I would reckon every single follower of CapFriendly has better chance of playing for the Sabres than NTC Trouba.

The Sabres don't even have to give us Olofsson and Miller. You can have Trouba and the picks! Please just give us the $8 mil in cap relief and roster spot for Braden Schneider lol

Where do I sign? I could use the extra cash. 😉

I'd be interested, Trouba is pretty good not 8mil good but pretty good and the Sabres have plenty of Cap space - on the other hand I don't see Trouba wanting to play for Buffalo

You have some competition from yours truly. I'm a RHD which is highly sought after by any NHL team. The fact that I'm 67 years old, I'm sure wouldn't deter the Sabres.

I can’t see us dishing Trouba with how well he’s playing. May not be $8 mil good, but he’s the second best d man on the team (I think Lindgren is 3rd), without him the Rangers defense is awful.

Trouba is having a great season. On pace for ~40 points and 15 goals. 10th in blocked shots. Not $8M good, but much better than people were expecting.

The NMC kills anything, but Trouba has value for sure.

Pure nonsense. Trouba could be the Rangers next captain.

Trouba waives for Buffalo right after the Rangers agree to pay a first and second to send him away, pigs fly, and Salma Hayek asks me to escort her to the Oscars.

That's ridiculous.

Hayek is not getting nominated for an oscar

Oh, I didn't say she was getting nominated -- I was just dreaming about escorting her to the after-parties until 2 or 3 in the morning.

Thank you all for your comments.
Of course Trouba would never waive to go to Buffalo, this site is just a toned down fantasy league in which we pretend to know what we are doing.
Since the replies range from @delneggs "Pure nonsense. Trouba could be the Rangers next captain." to @Sabresforlife "I'd be interested" to @OldNYIfan "right after the Rangers agree to pay a first and second to send him away"
Sort of Goldilocks, not nearly enough for Trouba to just right to way over pay.
Since I posted this I thought it was in the middle and maybe the Sabres would add a little
Trouba is only 17 months older than Olofsson their vintages are about the same.
I thought Olofsson was worth a little more than a first, while the Rangers would add a LW and save on the cap.

If you need this explained to you, you're either a troll or know nothing about the Rangers and hockey. Either way....its pure nonsense.

I was being hyperbolic, of course there would be a return lol. Was jokingly making the point that I'd do anything to get Trouba off the Rangers' books.

Which is nonsense itself. Trouba is the 2nd best defenseman on the team behind the Norris Trophy winner, plus he plays physical and with an edge no one else on the team has except maybe Reaves, he stands up for himself and his teammates, and he is a leader on and off the ice. Forwards on other teams have learned to keep their heads up when they play the Rangers, and he is the reason why. You can't measure the kind of intangibles he brings to the team or tell me how much they are worth against the cap, but it's a lot. Bottom line is the Rangers have been way too soft a team for way too long and this year is different, and Trouba is a part of that difference along with Reaves and Goodrow. Trading him would be a huge mistake, and I'm 100% sure Drury knows that, especially since the team is 20-8-4.

I totally agree he's been amazing this season, but I still think it'd be worth getting him off the books now to save us the cap strain and pain in 2-3 years when one or both of Schneider and Lundkvist are also lights out on ELCs/bridge contracts.

His NMC becomes a modified NTC the last 2 years of his deal, which is also when Nils and Schneider need new deals, so that's more than likely the time to trade him. Why trade him when we have the cap space and he is playing so well?
