Can’t afford Kubalik’s next contract with Strome needing a new contract or at least not easily.

Chytil has been good, I could see NYR moving on from Strome and Georgiev as well.

Chytil can’t score reliably yet, which I think is a big concern. Strome is needed. Unless we move Chytil, sign Strome and then make a move for Kubalik. Would definitely be tight with the cap though.

Drury says no thanks. Can't afford him anyway.

He can probably be signed to a one year deal under $5M, he's starting to pick up the scoring, but is still playing his way towards a prove it contract.

So give up Blais, who fits the Rangers bottom 6 needs to a T, and a 1st round pick, for maybe signing him for 1 year? Yeah, no thanks. Rangers won't have much cap room after signing Strome, which Drury is going to do, so they will be keeping affordable players like Sammy and their high draft picks.

Just buyout or bury Connely. Way to much to give up for a little over 2 mil in cap savings for 1 year

Fair enough, didn't realize the cap space I had left, however they need to figure out what Borgstrom is, otherwise it might be time to move on. Too many meddling forwards on this team.

I agree, and same can be said with strome, kurashev, entwistle, etc

Yep, too much quantity and almost no quality. After today's beat down (and tomorrow's pending beatdown by the flames), it's going to be time to start testing the trade market as sellers. Might be time to have that conversation with Fleury to see if he's open to a trade.

Ideally we trade Flower, Dehaan, and possibly Strome and Kubalik now and then you have the tough conversation with Toews and Kane this offseason. Although Kane seems pretty frusterated so it might not even be so tough with him.

I still think it's possible Toews retires after this season or the next. He doesn't have any trade value even with retention at this point. Kane is a different story, but if the hawks can free up cap and make impact free agent signings, this team could be something. It seems like they keep waiting for Beaudin or Mitchell to solidify themselves, but they never seem to work. Either give them a legitimate chance, or bring in more experienced free agents. The 2nd half of this season will be a perfect time to give the kids the rest of the season to prove themselves. Let them make mistakes, let them find their game. I want to see Reichel for 9 games, I want to see Beaudin, Kalynuk, and Mitchell. They know exactly what they have in C. Jones, Stillman, Gustafsson, Gabriel, Khaira, and Carpenter.
