DAL has both klingberg and pavelski expiring this year. I think they could be tempted to replace pavelski with Pettersson and retain kilngberg

No but no thanks. IMO, Miro is superior at his position than Peterson is at his position.

In other words, Miro's NHL ranking at D is higher than Peterson's NHL ranking at C.

In terms of level Klingberg's far from Heiskanen and Pettersson isn't exactly a winger, which is the role Pavelski plays for the Stars. Their playstyles are completely different.

I might be biased towards Heiskanen here, but imo he brings to us much more than Pettersson would. Pettersson's ceiling is barely that of a top10 center in the league, but Heiskanen is likely becoming a top3 D in the league. He's the elite class with Makar and Fox.

Fair enough. Imo this is the only Pettersson trade I would even consider and it’s only because I really like heiskanen. I don’t think he’s in the McAvoy/makar/fox level, I think he’s in the Hughes/Chabot/werenski level which I would say is same teir for where Pettersson slots as a C. However, I understand why others may think differently. Appreciate the feedback

I think your stance would probably differ if you watched more Stars games honestly.

The best part about Heiskanen is his lack of weakness. He can do pretty much anything, and I'd argue he's more defensively responsible than all the guys mentioned here.

The biggest problem for Heiskanen is that Dallas relies on him too much. He'd play 40 minutes a night if it was possible.

Value wise it's fair.

Reasons for Dallas to do this is slim to none. Heiskanen would be way more important to us than Pettersson, same goes the other way for Vancouver, but I see more reasons for Vancouver to do this than Dallas.

I can't see either team doing this, maybe the Nucks would if they're struggling with agreeing to terms with Pettey's next contract.
