Toronto passes. Acquiring Severson while dumping Ritchie isn't worth getting rid of Amirov and a 2nd.

And this is just a shot in the dark but Pittsburgh doesn't want Holl.

Severson is 50% retained here, can't see NJ doing this.

With over 20M in cap space next year, I think taking on 50% retention and Ritchie is well worth Amirov and a 2nd for NJ

Ask a Devils fan that, not sure they'd see it the same.

Dude's right, for me anyway. It's not too far off fair value but that 2nd needs to be turned into a 1st.

I don't why so many Leaf fans think Severson is the magic cure on defence. I guess they don't watch of Jersey games. Just keep going with 20 minute man Holl

Really? If the Leafs offered you that trade, you'd actually decline? I mean, I'm no Leafs fan but this seems like a great deal for NJ.

Yeah., I'd want more from the Leafs. Muzzin trade is a decent comp to any Severson deal.
Bonafide top 4 RD 50% retained this season and next should net the equivalent of a 1st and a real good prospect, especially if Devils are taking cap back as well.

Interesting take. Not sure I agree, but I can definitely see where you're coming from

I think it would only be considered with Niemela or similar d-man prospect - or if there was shooter available.
They would really have to pry him out of our hands.

I feel like Leafs fans have been talking about Severson forever. Since before Brodie signed.
Good player, good contract, potentially fills a need.

While I agree with good player, good contract, he certainly doesn't fill a need when the Leafs trade Holl. Kinda just exchanging one RHD for another.

Severson is a pretty large upgrade over Holl though (or any of Leafs RHD, really).

Oh, I see how well the the Devils are doing overall, also defensively, offensively, PK....Kinda of a CapFriendly fantasy that all Leafs Dmen are so bad. Brodie plays the right side throughout his career thought shoots left, RHD Liljegren doing fine in his rookie season, Dermot plays the right side sometimes and Holl plays on the 20 minutes a game, for the 5th best team in the league.
As I suggest, the Leafs 7th are fine, and really what is the cost for a a marginally upgrade if any? Is there really that much help needed for the 3rd best GAA team and especially from a team with the 25th best GAA?

I was just responding to the guy saying Severson was on par with Holl.

Considering leafs fans send multiple Severson offers a day, maybe talk to them about it. I would prefer Devils keep him long-term.

So many Leafs fans are, I'll be polite "ill informed". They see the mistakes from their own players, but think other teams players are perfect. The Leafs "stars" seem to be void of any criticism but the rest of the players....seemingly so many bottom enders from poor teams are an improvement (not saying Severson is bottom ender). Part of Holl's problem this year his partner Muzzin who isn't played anywhere near his 5.6m contract. In December just before Covid forced many Leafs games to be cancelled, the Leafs made a change defensively have Holl paired with Sandin and Liljegren with Muzzin. That may work better as Liljegren and Sandin seem to be capable puck movers. Muzzin seems to lost a step offensively and certainly defensively at least for the first part of the season.

Well, if all leafs fans thought alike, fandom would be less fun.

I recall Holl and Muzzin being a solid shutdown pair for a while last year. Hopefully they can find their grove again.

All we want from Devilsland is to see Joey Anderson get a shot (pun intended).

It's kinda amazing as much as the Muzzin/Holl seems to declined this year, the Leafs are quite good in all aspects of their game. Holl and Muzzin play lots of the heavy minutes, including PK, so maybe their play isn't as bad as many so think. Joey Anderson...Leafs were flush with wingers last year and really this year. If he's good enough to be an NHLer, I hope he gets a shot. Too bad Covid has been caused irregular schedules in junior, NCAA and the minor leaguers.
