???? The Leafs waive their good 4th liner in Engvall for an AHLer. Gee that doesn't help LW at all. More fascination with other teams players....Is Mayfield really better than Holl?, never mind paying that premium.

You can get more for holl,
Avs would prefer a cheaper Depth dman or a clear upgrade of their 6/7 options in Murray and jack Johnson

If healthy you have 2m in the press box in holl or Murray. That cap would be better suited in a middle 6 upgrade over someone being healthy scratched

Mayfield is a lot better than Holl. It’s not even close.

FYI Leafs are over the cap the Engvall move is happening sooner rather than later. They sat Ritchie cause they wanted to see who out of Mikheyev or Engvall preformed last night. Mikheyev as the winner by a large margin.

Murray and Johnson are both LHD. It’s more of need as they lack RHDs in their system. However you do have a point about cheaper option that I neglect

As it stands, we don’t need a major move.

That could and probably will change, but not right now.

Arizona likes 2nds and “cap dumps”.
I like Boyd, Lybushkin and possibly Larsson (if anyone can show me his advanced stats)

Maybe there is a deal to be made there.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Kampf - Kase
Engvall - Larsson - Spezza
*Boyd, Simmonds

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Liljegren
Sandin - Dermott
*Lybushkin

Campbell
Mrazek

I’m not sure where my fascination with Arizona came from recently, but depth improvements is where I sit currently.

Edit: kinda regretting this already 😂

Girard can play right side and Justin Barron hust made his nhl debut. A rhs 3rd pair dman isn’t a desperate need.
Personally would prefer avs go after Lybushkin for a depth dman over holl.

Price wise avs would do the trade just isn’t the best use of cap space for them based on their needs

We don’t but it’s always better to add a guy like Mayfield who’s been on long runs and play heavy minutes to this team.

Forwards you don’t need to change but as a I said before someone needs to be moved as the team ain’t cap compliant

While a 2nd for Mayfield is probably accurate value it's a pretty easy no for the Isles.

There is no benefit in this trade for them. Mayfield has another year on his deal after this year, is on a great contract that does not hurt the cap, and would need to be replaced and that will cost more money than Mayfield makes.

Unless a team is willing to overpay for Mayfield the Isles are happy to keep him for this year and next and possibly extend him if it can be done on the cheap.

If I was the isles I would too but I think there might be a 1-2yr retool in Long Island. Maybe trade off some of the older guys and get younger and faster. Even still y’all still got Dobson and Pulock long term

The Isles would be happy to trade the older guys (Bailey, Palmeri, Greene, Chara) but they have about 0 value combined. With Greene and Chara probably retiring after this year the Isles D will have at least 1 rookie (Salo) and maybe even 2 that would leave Mayfield as the only D 30+. That would leave them younger and faster with Mayfield still being counted on to lead the PK and help mentor a young D partner.

One thing folks seem to think is the new player is going to fit seamlessly into their new team. Plus now with Covid restrictions, a player coming Canada has to consider the hassle with family entering or staying behind.

They’re over the cap currently…

They need to waive Engvall or trade him y’all choose.

They ain’t waiving Ritchie as quite frankly he brings more to the team than Engvall.

That’s business move bud. Hockey is business at the end of the day it’s that simple. Unless you have a NMC they can do whatever they want with you if they feel like it make the team better.

True, but how getting rid of of a competent NHLer and have him replaced with an AHLer doesn't seem good business for a contending team.

Brings more negative to the team... yes.

I do think it's Engvall that's gone. As for TDL it will depend on injury. For now they have no holes on the team.
