Adding Pinto is a dealbreaker.

Interesting. I think he projects as a lower end 2C right now. The reason I see him as tradeable is because I think the Sens will get another top 5 pick and will be able to draft a better C prospect.

Kakko has the highest ceiling in the trade but there's quite a bit of risk with him.

Not a chance from Rangers side. Kakko isn't going anywhere.

I think he projects as a Cirelli. Great 2 way player with 45-50pts per year . Not a guy you want to trade like at all

Both teams say no. OTT loves Pinto and Rangers don't value either piece as much as OTT does.

Pinto would be your 2C. I’m also not a fan of Kakko

Why would he be our 2C? He’s 32.7%..

I wish he was playing so everyone can see how good he is. Elite defensively and a big power forward. So good , I don’t want to trade him

Except Kakko is playing and isn't elite defensively. I think he needs a change of scenery to realize his potential.

His stats look good on both sides of the ice since his 2nd year. He's definitely hinted at Quinn as being the issue of his freshman year as he mentioned the continuity with his current line as a main reason for his success.

If your playing on a line with 2 ppg players and are getting 11 points in 28 games you can hardly call that a success unless your bar is very low.

Sure if he was some random mid round pick you could say he's performing well but for a hyped up 2nd overall pick his production has been pretty underwhelming.

If you make this trade as Ottawa you're definitely betting on Kakko becoming a 50 point player to have a chance at breaking even. If he becomes a 70 point player Ottawa wins the trade.

I don't disagree but I like how he's played. The points need to come soon though.

I don't know where you have seen that but it's a bit outdated. He has more upside than that

Shane Pinto is a Patrice Bergeron style player. Obviously, chances are extremely low that he'll ever be as good but we have no idea how close in % he'll get, both defensively and offensively. You just don't trade prospects like that, they are extremely rare. If you do, it's in a package for a difference maker.

The idea of getting Kakko is good. Using Brannstrom as a piece is also good since there's no long term plan in Ottawa for him. However, Rangers might not be ready to give up on Kakko. If they do, it would probably have to be a 1 for 1

I like this projection. On another forum, we compared him with David Backes. He might never be as strong physically but this was the best comparison.

That's the problem here. Pinto might produce as much (or more) while being a Selke level center (meaning he'd get Selke votes every year)

He could produce as much or more than Kakko and become a Selke level center but the chances of that happening are pretty low. Hey, I hope you're right though.

The only thing that worries me is the injury he had this season, just hoping he has no setbacks

But his hockey IQ and defensive awareness is through the roof. Even for 21 y/o Mark Stone, it didn't look as apparent as it did for 20 y/o Shane Pinto.

Look at these accolades

2019-2020
NCAA (NCHC) All-Rookie Team
NCAA (NCHC) Reg. Season Champion (Penrose Cup)
NCAA (NCHC) Rookie of the Year
U20 WJC Top 3 Player on Team

2020-2021
NCAA (All-USCHO) First Team
NCAA (NCHC) Best Defensive Forward
NCAA (NCHC) Champion
NCAA (NCHC) First All-Star Team
NCAA (NCHC) Forward of the Year
NCAA (NCHC) Player of the Year
NCAA (NCHC) Reg. Season Champion (Penrose Cup)
NCAA (West) First All-American Team
NCAA Top Collegiate Player (Hobey Baker Award) Finalist

Then came up in the NHL with 7 pts in 12 games while looking as a fantastic 2-way center already

If he didn't get injured this season, first the Sens would have done much better but CF proposals would also be quite different
