Description
I've never seen a team down two goals late in a game play with absolutely zero energy and no offensive pressure. There's not enough speed or will on this team, it's honestly shocking how underperforming they've been based off the off-season moves and hype. The Fleury trade is really the only one here that means anything, the rest could be to any team.

Back to the original point of these moves, this team needs to recoup picks, because they're well on their way to missing out on a top 10 pick this season. Jones has been good, but the price was way too high. Boqvist is finding his game (Under a new coach, shocker), Sillinger looks like a steal, and CBJ is likely to get another great piece in 2022.

Alas, there's no point in looking back, where do they go from here? I think they really need to recoup as many picks as possible, keeping Toews, Kane, Cat, Dach, Hagel, Murphy, Jones, and McCabe. Everyone else is free game. Recoup picks, draft well, use some to get bad contracts off the books as needed, and try to compete next season. There will be a lot of free agents to take a look at, but they gotta trim as much fat as they can.

I also believe it's time for an NHL caliber coach. Torts may be stuck in the past, but these guys need a hot head to light a fire under them.

This is a tonka truck of a post.

The Blackhawks need the 1st,2nd, and third Panzer tank divisions to turn itself around. Seriously hawks fans it’s Covid pandemic hockey…let’s let the years go by during these doo doo filled seasons and let them goooooo

Also Kane, Cat, MAF are the only people landing you a good return. yet let’s hope Toews channels his inner RoboSeabs and does what to save this dumpster fire?

I like Carpenter bur he's definitely not a need in Calgary. Maybe Toronto would want him to play next to Kampf again

As for your assessment on the game, that's more just what Calgary does to teams this year. I think Chicago played fine that game. Gus should definitely not be on that 1st PP unit though

I typically watch 3-4 games a day, to get a feel for every team in the league, and I can fully admit, that Chicago, Montreal, and Arizona are probably the 3 slowest teams in the league with no heart. I watched the Capitals score 2 goals in the final 7 minutes against the Devils to force overtime. I get they're not the Capitals, but there wasn't even a push by Chicago, their scoring chances seem so non-threatening because, frankly, they aren't threats. They just can't score.

Trading Kane after the chemistry he built with DeBrincat would be foolish. Kubalik would score so much more on the top PP unit, or on a different team in general. His shot is lethal when he connects, and he can't connect when they can barely sustain offensive pressure in 5v5 play. The hawks have the 2nd lowest 5v5 scoring with 44 goals, only the Islanders are behind them with 42, 3rd lowest in expected goals for as well.

In my opinion, Covid hockey makes even more sense to try and compete. Who knows what COVID issues a team may face? There's an added variable in the playoffs that could make for a deeper run, but they won't be getting there until there's an overhaul.
