Description
I honestly think the biggest problem with Buffalo heading into next year is reaching the cap floor. If they re-sign Olofsson in the off-season and bring up the forwards Rochester deserving of an opportunity to play in the NHL, they will need to add zero UFAs up front.

With that being said, defense is where they'll need to take on some added salaries to meet the floor, as well as shore up their defense. I've brought back Pysyk into the fold as a bottom pairing defender on a low risk, high reward contract. Bryson is back at a little bit of a higher cost, but is a developing PP2 guy with shifty speed. Two familiar faces will rejoin Buffalo on defense. I needed to bring in two vets with experience that are deserving of a sizeable cap hit. McNabb and Zadorov rejoin Buffalo to give them some size and grit on the back end.

Mikko "I'm just old enough to play a backup role and start in case of emergency, all while eating a fair amount of cap space but not take games away from a budding U-PL" Koskinen will take on the backup roles.

All-in-all, this puts Buffalo about a million above the cap floor. The off-season will be quiet with little or no trades taking place. Additions for both Buffalo and Rochester will come via free agency. Buffalo will be taking considerable fire power away from the Amerks, so they'll need to do their minor league affiliate right by re-stocking the shelves.

No Power or Samuelson doesn’t seem very realistic. Also, I don’t want those 3 year contracts for Mcnabb or Zadorov, and koskinen is washed.

Reaching the floor is never an issue. In the history of the salary cap a team has never not hit it. They could simply trade for Shea Weber.

There's absolutely no reason to rush Power into the NHL. Samuelson might have a chance to fill in for an injury, but without McNabb, Zadorov, and/or Koskinen, Buffalo has a hard time reaching the cap floor.

Power and Samuelsson will be in the team, there is no point in signing McNabb and even more so Zadorov. Also, we do not need another bad goalie, we can easily reach the ceiling by trading for another Boychuk. Bjork over Asplund? Come on.

Totally agree with you about not rushing prospects, but I have two comments:
1. Power has nothing left to prove in NCAA and is too good to spend much time (if any) in the AHL
2. You don't have any issues putting Krebs at 2C and he's WAY over his head there

Why are you okay with rushing Krebs but insist on holding Power back for no good reason?

I dont see any of these signings happening lol, 4 mill for a Goaltender with 10 nhl games under him??? Power easily is better than 2/3 LHD, dont think bryson gets that much either. Would love to see Pysyk back tho.

He’s having one of the most productive years in recent history for ncaa defenseman, and playing well in his own zone.It wouldn’t be rushing him. Okay, we need to spend more, doesn’t mean it has to be on those players. I’m fine with mcnabb and Zadorov on one year maybe two year contracts, but three is too much term for 2 mediocre defensemen.
