As some already hinted, Ottawa will buy out Murray, it's pretty much written in the sky
My guess is Murray signs a 1 M$ reclamation contract next summer on a team with a solid goalie and proper NHL defense/structure and he does well with them (if not diminished by injuries of course)
He has a pretty long injury history already though so it's also possible that his body doesn't allow him to perform at a high level anymore.
Quoting: Goulet
Ottawa is better off with Murray. They've got awhile before they're actually going to be competitive, might as well pick high.
Matt Murray is a symptom of what is the result of HORRIBLE management
Dorion is actually smarter than I thought as he perfectly deflected blame from him with this Murray situation. people are gullible and falling for it
Ottawa has some pretty good young players (Chabot, Batherson, Norris, Tkachuk, Stutzle, Zub, Formenton) but literally nothing behind them outside of Connor Brown who is the ONLY quality veteran support. This is actually a crime against them. Nobody has thrown young players to the wolves like that since the Oilers did 15 years ago.
Bring in a real NHL GM and I'm convinced he'd make that team really competitive in a short period of time. Coaching, veteran support and depth are needed. That being said, it might take new ownership to have a future again so we're still waiting for that.
