I really suggest you research these prospects before you say that, specifically Nybeck.

I really wouldn’t say any of these prospects jump out in a particular way.

A deal for Laine would have to include a 1st, and a prospect along the lines of Jarvis or Necas. Minimum.

Mind you, Laine still has a year of control after this one. So, unless CAR decides to not even give a QO to the guy (which would be…well, completely idiotic beyond measure), you actually have 1.5 years control of him. Even if CAR doesn’t want to keep him, they’d absolutely flip him at the draft or something for a boatload of goods.

All of which is to say, CAR is going to have to offer *a lot* more than this.

You need to send quality if you want quality. I'm not as high on Laine as most are, but he does have a lethal snipe. I personally would not send either Necas or Jarvis. But, CBJ would probably require it. Laine doesn't drive his line. He's not a Aho type player. He needs others around him to make plays and he'll definitely snipe the puck to the net, but he's going to want WAY too much money looking at his history. I'd stay away from him to be honest. With that said...what I would give for Laine (it would NOT be enough mind you) is the 2023 1st, Suzuki, and Heimosalmi, and Gardiner. Suzuki isn't worth what either of us want him to be worth...value wise. He almost lost his career to an eye injury.

You ain’t wrong.

Gotta say though, his overall play has really improved this season with CBJ. Not exactly gonna give him any Selke votes, but he’s at least become serviceable.

I would argue he's a pretty decent line driver but shouldn't be the only line driver on a line

Yup. Necas is probably off bounds and canes fans will **** themselves hearing this but theres absolutely 0 way a Laine to Carolina trade happens without Jarvis involved.

I’ve seen good Laine trades on this forum with WSH, NJ, and if Jarvis were included, I’d put this up there.

We’d need a guy like Jarvis or kotkaniemi coming back as a centerpiece in a laine trade. Then maybe a first and a prospect. This offer isn’t close as others have stated above.

I mean, if JK were to be included *on top* of everything else, fine. Otherwise, it’s rapidly starting to feel like the ship is sailing on JK as a legit Top-6 guy.

Laine has what, 1 more year of RFA and has arb rights, correct?

To me, it’d be nonsense to trade what the Jackets would want for him. I’d just wait and take a run at him once he hits UFA. You have to think he’s not going to be sticking around in Columbus much longer.

It may be a bit early to write him off yet, but we’d definitely need other pieces with KK

True, true. In the midst of the whole offer-sheet mess, I did forget how young he is.
