Random question. What does “systerin wanhat” mean in Finnish? Google translate being useless rn.

It's a bit hard to explain but basically it means "my sister's high school prom."

High school lasts around three years in here. Wanhat is a prom party held for the second grade that is turning the oldest grade when those prior to them are graduating. You could think it as the class change or something like that.

Term wanha is a "twist" on the word "vanha" which means "old."

Basically it's a celebration for them turning into the oldest students in the high school and the next in line for graduation.

Systeri is a slang term for "sister" which originates from Swedish language word "syster." Finnish language has a lot of loaned words from different languages.

I started a meme thread a while back. I should rename it to "Juiceman's Meme Sanctuary"

I have a bit of a story to tell.

In my CP US History class, we're gonna be taking a field trip on Wednesday to the Abraham Lincoln Museum. For the bus ride, our teacher came up with the idea of making a music playlist for the ride to and from (since it's about three hours round-trip).

I added some songs that i like. A majority of it was metal, because i like metal, but i switched it up a bit: among the Metallicas and AC/DCs and Judas Priests i threw in some Nelly, and Phil Collins, and Creedence Clearwater Revival (before you ask, no, it was not Fortunate Son, i'm not THAT basic. If you want to know, it was Bad Moon Rising) among others.

The next day, I checked in on it, and someone else added a whole lot more metal, but it was a whole lot more emo and sh*t (My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace, etc.). It got a pop out of me, but everyone else had the collective opinion of "y'all's music taste is trash". Everyone was talking trash about it. Most of the people that were clowning on the playlist were my good friends. I swear to god, i heard my best friend who i've known since kindergarten say "Who is Pantera?" I straight up almost jumped up out of my chair and walked home. I had no idea that a man that i could call my friend could be so violently uncultured. They all decided to go through it and purge all the stuff they don't like.

Surprisingly, i didn't get much flak for it myself, mainly because the other kid is an easier target (this kid is openly gay and i live in a town where a good 90% of the population thinks that the 2020 election was rigged). Man has like a scene hairstyle fresh out of 2008, and wears like all black (usually metal band t-shirts. As far as i know, he's not one of those posers that wears like a Slayer t-shirt and then can't name three Slayer songs. He listens to Slayer).

Over the weekend, i looked at it, and those folks just removed all the Metallica and added more rap (which really isn't a bad thing to me, i like a bit of rap). A part of me believed that the only metal band they all collectively knew was Metallica, and that's actually kinda sad. I just thought to myself "Okay, maybe i added too much Metallica for their tastes, let's just keep it to Enter Sandman and call it a day".


TL: DR: I figured out my friends are uncultured last week.
