Not bad but I don't think Montreal will retain on Toffoli since he is already on a good contract

Is Toffoli worth a 1st? Probably to some teams, but not the Pens. Plus, Hextall has made his 1sts off-limits and you'd HAVE to take Zucker back in that trade because the Pens have zero cap space.

Bellows has the same amount of points as Hoffman in 5 less games.

In a small stretch Hoffman is 4X the players Bellows is. Before this year you guys weren’t sure if he was worth more than a 4th RD pick

Hoffman sucks lol - he’s one of the worst 5v5 players in the NHL. I wouldn’t even sign him to a league minimum deal.

The issue with Bellows is the isles tanked his value in the past by playing worse players over him. Lack of opportunity over a period of time decreases trade value. He still had top 6 potential.

This is a very unrealistic trade that makes 0 sense for the isles. Bellows has 7 pts in his last 7 games and you argue that they should trade a high pick and take on a worse player.

Because if Bellows hits UFA this summer he is getting 4.5M+ ? I don’t think so. Hoffman is not THAT bad at 5 on 5, we can compare Drouin & Hoffman since we got both & Hoffman isn’t that bad. Drouin is horse**** tho

Bellows is young + cost controlled - he’s already better than Hoffman. Montreal overpaid Hoffman based on his past production

4.5M isn’t that TBH. I rather have Hoffman than Drouin at 5.5M
I rather trade Toffoli and have Hoffman on my top 6
I rather have Hoffman at 4.5M than Gallagher at 6.5M

So he isn’t that bad, I hated the Hoffman signing because I don’t like the player. But he proved us he is really decent & not as bad as we expected. MTL have Dom Ducharme as a head coach, he should be coaching in the Q nothing higher than that

Ok but my point is why would the isles trade for Hoffman? Bellows has been great

Yes, but I don’t expect him to keep that pace. If he does, fine there’s no fit. But he is getting scratched again & the Isles wanna be competitive next year, I could see a fit. But Trotz probably want better two-way player so probably not the best trade. But je isn’t the GM lol

Every time Bellows has gotten into the lineup over the last 3 years he’s produced at a high rate. He’s also been good defensively. If the isles want to be competitive , they probably shouldn’t be trading a cheap 23 year old sniper for an overpaid 33 YO Hoffman who is a complete liability at even strength
