Not sure why Kakko deserves that payday. Seems like he should get a deal comparable to what Adrian Kempe got after his ELC. 3 years @ $2M.

Georgiev won’t get more than a 4th in the off-season. Few teams in the market for him.

Nemeth can be moved in that deal to ARZ but we aren’t seeing a 1st or 2nd coming back.

Chytil needs to go unless he makes some big strides at C but he is a winger and we have too many.

At some point a Trouba/Kreider trade will happen. Both are valuable and will be in demand. No trade some say, players waive..

Reaves is also probably going to get moved. Great guy and locker room presence, but seems a bit out of place on this team. Seems like a premium they can't afford right now.

This premium is helping them win games, he goes no where.

    Very simple solution...

    1. We dont resign Blais, we have way too many wingers in the pipeline.
    2. We dont sign Lyubushkin, we have too many stud RD.
    3. We trade Chytil, resign Rooney on the cheap, Barron centers the 3rd line.

    Thats like 4m saved.

getting strome for that would be a steal after 3 seasons of .86 ppg production.

I bet Strome signs with the Rangers for a lower cap hit than people expect (under $6m/year) but gets a longer term to do it, kind of like RNH did with the Oliers. He likes playing in NY and with Panarin.

    I don’t think I’d give a 3rd for Georgiev, let alone a 1st
He’s a backup goalie, completely unproven as a starter

Nemeth has little to no value for us,
especially when we have Dahlin & Power locking down the left side of our defense for years & years
He’s not that good anyways- average at best

Strome is a UFA....he isn't yours to sign. And with that Strome deal, it's really a unworkable 21man roster, with no cap and bonuses to be paid.

Which right wings in the pipeline are you looking at exactly? Pajuniemi is the best prospect down there and he's not exactly lighting things up. C grade prospect. Moreover Vitali Kravtsov is a sunk cost.

And while this is probably nitpicking on my end, Barclay Goodrow is the only one who makes sense as the future 3C in my opinion. Barron has earned 4th line material at most and I wouldn't expect that to change soon.

He isn't a UFA until the season is over, so he most certainly is the Rangers until then.

The trouble with Kreider and Trouba with their NTCs and contract, is they would only waive to true contenders. And those teams have no cap either, and would have to send cap back to the Rangers, which kinda defeats the purpose of moving them.

If Hajek was already in Hartford, Carolina would bite your arm off to get a little more defensive depth in the pipeline. Although the Rangers might have to take an AHL deal back for contract reasons.

Pajuniemi was impressive in training camp. He started slow in the AHL, hes picked it up as of late.
Kakko and Gauthier (although nothing special) can play RW. Goodrow can play RW. Prospects Othmann and Korzyak can play RW. Im not wasting valuable cap space on someone coming off ACL surgery.

I still don't see how that earns Pajuniemi the expectation of consistent NHL time come next year. Even if he's the best of the Wolfpack from now until the end of the season, it never guarantees anything for season-long AHL players. I also have to doubt Korzyak will be ready in his D+1 season.

Sammy Blais still looks like the most practical 3RW to me. He's much more worth it than Julien Gauthier.

This was something I was toying with. We would pick up Dylan at the deadline in a swap deal with Chytil. Dylan Strome's qualifying offer is 3.6m which I highly doubt anyone signs considering the last couple season's hes had which in turn makes him a UFA and the Rangers would sign him to an inexpensive "prove it deal" for 1 year, hopefully 2 cause we need the cap help. We struck gold on Ryan, maybe we can do the same on the younger brother, who is a better overall center. We can then move Ryan to RW where he plays quite comfortably on the PP.

You would sooner get a 7th than a 1st in that Buffalo trade.
