No way Rangers pay that man. They arent Stanely cup contenders, their just very good. Seems like a super steep price when they are still a couple years away from really being there

I'm still calling the Rangers pretenders this season, but they certainly are close

The Nashville trade is horrible for Vancouver, you are way undervaluing Hamonic and Pearson, there shouldn't even be a 3rd rounder going Nashville's way. Canucks have zero interest in Phillipe Myers, and Rocco Grimaldi has no value as he was waived earlier this season

The New Jersey trade sucks too, both Dickinson and Woo each are more valuable to the Canucks than Michael McLeod

Regarding the Pittsburgh trade, I don't see the team giving up on Rathbone just yet, but maybe if they need another winger to fill out their depth moving forward

I disagree on that. They've got good young D on cheap deals for the next couple of years in Fox (only this season), Miller, Lindgren. Cheap young forwards in Kakko and Laf who will both likely sign bridge deals over the next 2 seasons. And Shesterkin for 3 more years at a great price. But the majority of their effective forward core is right around 30yrs old already in Panarin, Zib, Kreider, Strome, Goodrow. Rangers are a very good team this year and over the next 3 years they have a legitimate shot at winning the cup IMO.

Schneider is a really strong prospect which is tough to move but Rangers are strong on the right side for the foreseeable future. Chytil has talent but has struggled and seems to be falling out of favor with gallant. The 1st will be a late pick in all likelihood.

The salary retention on Miller gives NYR a chance to also re-sign Strome in the offseason if they move out a contract like Nemeth.

Call them whatever you want, but the progress they have made this year in undeniable. Serious cup contenders.....prob not.....yet. But they are moving in that direction quickly.

So the Nashville trade I actually wanted to post without the 3rd but figured id get ripped apart on here lol. Grimaldi comes back for cap reasons and Hamonic and Pearson are solid but don't fit the age for the Canucks. Myers has struggled the past 2 seasons but has the potential to be a strong top 4 still. In reality I wouldn't do this trade with the third involved.

The NJD trade is a bit deeper imo. You get a young right shot C that has proven to be strong defensively and has room to grow offensively. If you've already made the moves to get Myers and Schneider then Woo becomes more expendable.

Rutherford likes speed and speed works well in Boudreaus system. Kapanen, McLeod, and Chytil all bring that where Dickinson and Pearson are both holder and aren't fast.

I'm totally with you there, I like their team quite a bit as well, although I must admit I'm still a bit concerned about Kakko. I feel as though Rangers fans evaluation of the player is grasping at straws a bit much

NSH declines. No interest in Hamonic or Pearson, or in giving up Myers after less than a season. The Preds can afford to be patient with him.

I disagree. They're having a good season. Their top guys are locked up and aren't going. I think they'll be looking to strengthen their lineup for the playoffs.

They can be patient with Myers but they've also got Fabbro and Carrier so he's a moveable asset. Coach clearly doesn't care for him either.

Pearson's not a very fast skater, but the sandpaper element to his game is valuable in the playoffs, and Dickinson is a decent skater, Vancouver doesn't give up very many scoring chances when he is on the ice

Myers has looked more like an offensive D-man than a defensive D-man which the Canucks don't need, so I still probably wouldn't consider giving up too much value for him from Van's perspective

Guys like Chytil, McLeod, and Kapanen for sure could help the Canucks, I just don' expect Rutherford to go gunslinging so hastily just yet, maybe not until the off-season

NSH is having an unexpectedly good season. I don't think they're so good that they should be selling much of the futures yet. If they are thinking about bolstering the lineup, I think they'd be looking for:

-A goal scoring winger for the top six. Preferably a RW, as Kunin seems the mostly likely candidate to get bumped down in the lineup. Anyone worthwhile would be expensive of course, so that would be a risky addition. Promoting Jeannot to the top six full time might be a simpler, better option.

-A vet 4th line center rental, if they feel Novak is a little too green for a playoff run. A rental would be key though, as they aren't losing any of the centers they have in the off-season, plus Glass would presumably be in the mix next year too.

Pearson and Hamonic don't fill needs for the Preds, and the term they have remaining isn't an asset to NSH. The only part of the proposal that works for the Preds could be Grimaldi for a pick. Seeing as how the Canucks are so far back in the playoff race (despite their remarkable resurgence), acquiring a UFA makes little sense for them.

Bringing Myers along slowly isn't the same as the coach not liking the player. With Benning on the 3rd pair, they can let Myers work on his weaknesses and develop properly right now. They took a similar approach with Carrier's development, and that's paying big dividends now.

Kakko is still a kid, he will be fine. He is learning how to be a good two way player, the scoring will come.

Donny Waddell hangs up too. Motte might be a nice piece, but that's too much. A 4th or a 5th might do it, but the 3rd rounder Carolina have this year is Chicago's, making it basically a late 2nd rounder.

Motte is getting a 3rd rounder from other teams bear minimum if Carolina doesn't go for it, those are just facts

That's why I specified anywhere in the deal. I just clicked Carolina because they're a contender.

Pearson isn’t really much of an upgrade for any of the middle 6 wingers. Kunin, Trenin, Tolvanen are all producing at a Comparable rate and Jeannot isn’t getting pushed anywhere. Hamonic does nothing for Nashville. I’d rather continue to let the current middle 6 gel as they’re all young. Myers will likely play 3rd pairing next season but could be traded but likely not until season is getting ready to start or a couple weeks into it.
