Very hesitant about the 2 firsts but you have to think the blues will be a good team both years and still have some youth in the cupboard with neighbors, bolduc, and robertson that they can do that.

I dunno, the prospects are underwhelming, and the firsts will most likely be towards the lower end of the draft. (Not that the pick spots matter that much since most teams looking at Chych will most likely be in the back half of the draft). Walman is 25 and still hasn't cracked the lineup on a regular basis and Kostin is already 22 with the same issue. Both have been passsed on the depth chart by multiple players at their position.

If I'm ARI I want "can't miss" impact prospects over picks at this point or they'll be in rebuild forever.

Can't imagine Arizona bites on that, but I'd do it.

Just a point of order, Kostin is a regular this season (when he's not hurt, of course) and Walman has been passed by one guy. You also have to factor in that the Blues line-up has not been the easiest to break into/climb in recent years. That's not so much of a problem in Arizona.

Agreed, much more difficult to crack the Blues line up, but that's exactly what ARI needs to build a competitive team: Players that can crack top 6 F and top 4 D positions with other organizations. The 10-12th F on STL might be the 6 F on ARI, but that just means they're putting a guy in the line up that's gonna get destroyed vs other teams top 6's. It doesn't help the development of the team, just adds another depth guy. They'd be much more interested in Perunovich and Neighbours, but I highly doubt STL would want to give that up unless one of the firsts was pulled.

Except those guys don't always get destroyed with all the extra ice time. Theodore, Karlsson, etc.

Perunovich they'd probably give up in a Chych deal. Neighbors probably not.

They may not be can't miss prospects. However, Bill is the person who drafted both those guys. Defensemen usually take longer to develop and their prime is around 30. And Kostin is very capable of being a top 6 power forward now if not for the blues having the best forward depth in the league.
