Making Moves with KHL and Draft Curious on the Comments

Created by: NDoody
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 6, 2022
Published: Jan. 6, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This roster goes with the assumption that Sens do move most of the players like Tierney, Brown, Sanford, etc. at deadline and stocked filed some picks.

Now this could also mean that there are a few other player brought in as part of this, but this roster is more about moving players out and letting prospects move into full time roster spots.

Not sure if Paul goes for this deal but I think he would be worth keeping around in case Pinto does Slide next season when he comes back.

Rosalivc I saw in another roster and thought that he would be a great 3rd line player with the likes of Formenton, but he could also move up to the 2nd line, which means you could also get a Formenton/Paul - Pinto/Paul - C Brown third line which would be great as well.

I Picked Slafkovsky in the Draft because with the lottery i think that the Sens end up in the range where he would be. Also he has size 6'4, has been playing in Finnish men's league so he is more NHL ready and the scouting reports say he is a great skater and good hands for his size. Evne though he is a Left shot which the sens have lots of.
I think Slafkovsky, Greig, and Sokolov also could move up and down the line up some as needed and depending on hos they come into camp next year.

Overall this gives the Sens a lot of flexibility and keeps cap room available for contracts that will have to be signed in the coming years after this with all the players on ELC.

if this was last year that would be a terrible trade for the blue jackets because of his breakout
however this year he's slowed down quite a bit so im not sure

Why do people keep trading for Roslovic? He is from Columbus, wants to play there and plays at a position of weakness for us. He isn't available without a massive overpay.

I agree, I just saw it in another AGM and thought man that would be a great pick up for the Sens if possible and take advantage of him being in a down year.
I think it would take a lot more to get him out, but just going on what I saw in another AGM.

Columbus isn’t shopping roslovic currently. Maybe if extension talks sour but he really wants to be here and will probably be willing to take a pay cut to do so. Jarmo seems to love him too, so it seems like a match made in heaven.

      1. Way too much for Erik Brannstrom.

      2. Way too much for Anton Forsberg.

      3. Way too much for Dillon Heatherington.

      4. If Slavkovsky is the BPA when it's our turn to pick in the Top 5, then so be it.

Otherwise, I'm not interested in him.

      5. Columbus declines.

      6. I'm curious to see what happens if you place Nikita Zaitsev on waivers.

If only Larsen would get the memo and stop playing him on 4th line every night alongside noted defensive bruisers like Emil Bemstrom and Yegor Chinakhov.

      4. Andrei Kuzmenko is not signing that.

      He'll want something like this.

Not sure it really is too much for Forsberg I think there will be a market for backup goalies.

Branstrom can be argued, but also I think it isn't unreasonable given the cap hit of the rest of the team.

As per Elliot Freeman and others, Kuzmenko has to sign an ELC at least for 1 year, same as Zub, so yes that is all he can make unless there is bonuses, which would be moved to the next years cap hit any ways.

The Columbus trade likely isn't enough, but as I mentioned in the description, I saw this trade-in in another post and no one seemed to say anything about it. I doubt it would go as is, but it would be a hell of a steal for OTT.

Thats why the trade is lopsided really and a long shot but if you can take advantage like lots of people want to do with Branstrom trades and sell low on him then why not go for it.

Also he played with Zub for 2 seasons in KHL, so i think OTT would have a great advantage to get him signed on a 1 year 925 ELC.

      You're absolutely right on Kuzmenko.

In fact, that's exactly what Gusev did in 2019.

So, I'll delete my comment on Kuzmenko.

Edit: If he's signing an ELC, it will only be for 1 year and then he'll want to get paid.
