With all the great D prospects i really don;t see OTT taking on that contract just to flip a 3rd to a 2nd.

I can't see Arizona taking that hodgepodge offer for, arguably, their best player. Nor do I see Seattle offering up two draft picks AND an RFA in Mason Appleton, for a #3 defenseman

Ottawa does not want Duncan Keith and Duncan Keith does not want Ottawa.

Try again.

Nothing has changed with Edmonton, their current tailspin has simply highlighted just how much the team need more consistency in net, a veteran shut-down LD, and a 3C.

To be fair, we should consider last night's game in Toronto as a positive, despite the outcome. The Oilers were playing their 5th road game in 8 days, missing the best player in the game, as well as a second core top-six forward, one of their best penalty killers, three critically important members of their power play, and a key RHC. They had bottom six forwards returning from COVID protocol and lengthy time in the press box, and they had Koekkoek playing his weak side because Barrie was unavailable. Toronto had played just 2 games in 22 days, The Leafs were well rested, and had the benefit of lots of time to practice and prepare. Toronto was actually pretty lucky to get the win. There is truth to the suggestion that Oilers scored 4 of the six goals in a 4-2 loss. In other words, unfortunate bounces, and not being outplayed, ultimately cost them the game.

Very good point, and to add I suggest Keith is unlikely to accept that trade as well. Unless the the Flames or Canucks lose their minds and want to take him on, Duncan Keith will remain an Oiler. As I see the situation, The Oilers need to prioritize the acquisition of another goaltender, and allow the cost of that transaction to help determine whether a 3C or LD is the next addition.
