Is Kuz for sure going to OTT? I haven’t seen much about him or any news so I’m curious to know. Seems like a solid player that would want to join a contender.

Pierre Dorion said on TSN 1200 that #sens are going to pitch the Ottawa Senators to KHL stud LW Andrei Kuzmenko.

He was a teammate of Zub for 2 seasons and played for Russia with Zub.

Has 52 points in 42 games this season.

Kuzmenko is 25, so he is still eligible for his ELC

Gotta love Bruce Garrioch lol

Also Kuzmenko is eligible for a 1 year ELC in 22-23 but hey I'm sure he'd take 4.5 mil

Kuzmenko has to sign a 1 year ELC to come into the league like Zub, so he will only be 925, then likely want more money. Also, he has only ever played LW in his 5 KHL seasons, even though he is Right handed.

Van Riemsdyk is an interesting take for the one year your really getting him, and if all it takes is Del Zotto and the pick I would make that move. But I would think there is no way they keep him after that given the other contracts that have to be signed.

Interested to hear why you have no combo of Greig, Sokolov, and Lambert in your line up?

Idk what happens. Lets say he signs an ELC in the last month of the year and then becomes an RFA in the summer

His lack of speed worries me for the NHL level, he could be another Gusev. Tons of skill but can't keep up the pace in NA

That is exactly what would happen, and is likely if he is gonna make the jump to the NHL, that way he can sign a larger contract and not play for ELC money.
however, he likely comes before the trade deadline.

Also the fact that he only plays on the off-wing, LW and is a Right Shot, makes it harder to adapt to the Defensive side of the game in North America not to mention he is tiny 5'11 under 200lbs, he could get pushed around a lot, but i think for 925 pro rated for the rest of the season it is worth a gamble.

I would be patient with anyone not named Wright, Cooley, Savoie or Nemec in this draft. If we draft Lambert, id start him in the AHL. Id also let Greig start as the 1C in Belleville to give up some time

we just need him to put the puck in the net. Stutzle's line lacks goals

Some guy named Filip Forsberg is a right shot and plays LW.

You think with Pinto and also Stztle playing C they keep him at C, I see him long-term playing LW? Also depends on what Belleville looks like next year, if they do not have some good players to put him on a line with, then I would rather have him playing 4th line LW with the Sens.

Leafs just needed Gusev to that but couldn't hack it. I just look at the KHL guys who've had success at the NHL level (Mikheyev/Barabanov tons of speed only a little offence in the KHL). Shipachev/Gusuv tons of skill and offence in the KHL, could not keep up with the speed of the game in the NHL.

But agreed for 925K Kuz is worth the risk. If it doesn't work out np

Kuzmenko-Stutzle-Pinto would be a sick line. Then a Formenton-Greig-White/Brown 3rd line

In order for Kuzemnko to play in the NHL, he needs to sign an ELC of at least 1 year, most likely at 925K.

Per NHL rules.

And then he can sign for 4.5 million x 2.

It's what Nikita Gusev did in 2019.

I am curious to see how Pinto progresses next year, I see him as more of a setup guy at the NHL level, which could play well with your given second line. However one of his best strengths is his faceoff percentage, helps with possession numbers which in a 3rd line role would be great. I am not sure if I am willing to move him off of C just yet. Formenton - Pinto - C Brown sounds good to me.

This is why i wouldnt mind drafting Nemec or Jiricek and then trading one of JBD/Thomson in a package for a top 6F

Since Stutzle has been Center, we actually need a LW too lol

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Kuzmenko - Stutzle - Giroux
Formenton - Pinto - Brown
Crookshank - White - Paul
Watson

No spots for Greig, Sokolov, and Lambert !!!

That’s why you draft nemec/Jiricek and trade one of JBD/Thompson for a forward.

Man Ottawa is setup for the future.

hard pick what is more valuable the Forward in this draft, Nemec or Jiricek, od JDB & Thompson.
Thompson is kinda my lean towards a package to move, I know you have said move JDB but I see him as more of a team core player type that is a long-time stalworth on the blue line.

There are a lot fo really good forwards in the top 10 this year, I would be hard to pass on one of them. I know that Nemec and Jiricek bring a little more physical play then the current line up of D prospects minus Sanderson, so there may be something there to balance out the line up a little more.

Lots of good choices available.

Lets not forget there is also Greig, Sokolov, Boucher likely in the line up in the next 3 years.
