As a Leaf fan, it beyond my wildest dreams why a team pick would up Ritchie on waivers.

What happens when Wheeler returns? You don't have enough cap space left. In my opinion, this makes the Jets a worse team. I would rather see a few minor adds at the TDL, not a big overhaul.

I'm unfamiliar with Samberg as a fan of an east coast team, has he been playing super well or something? Otherwise I'd be a little hesitant to just completely ditch three defensemen in Dillon, Beaulieu, and Stanley and only bring in Gustafsson who is very one sided as a player to the point of you scratching him.

I really like the Quick move, I think that the package you gave isn't really what would get it done considering significant retention for this year and next (probably remove one of the players other than Comrie for a pick I'd think) but perfect tandem for this year and probably next.

Rakell will get more from someone else so that trade needs to be added to. I think even Kravtsov too seems like Drury is fine to play hardball on that.

Well that LA trade is laughably bad for the Kings.

    jonathan Quick is not available.

He's currently in the middle of a career best year of a Hall of Fame career, so if he was made available for some reason (he won't be), he would cost significantly more than this.

Ritchie is 26 years old. Before he went to Toronto he was a pretty decent player. Perhaps Keefe's system wasn't the right style of play for him?

The Jets do the same thing the Lightning did last year with Kucherov. Keep him on LTIR till the playoffs and then bring him in. Kessel and Rakell are UFA's at the end of this year so they come off the books at the end of the year. If the Jets want to hold on to Wheeler you would be able to fit him back in next year. But I really hope they buy him out next year.

That won't happen though and isn't a real possibility. Wheelers injury was week to week and he will 100% be back well before the playoffs start. Wheeler has 17 points in 22 games, he is still a very effective player, I'm not sure why everyone is hating on him this year. I don't disagree that he has regressed this year but not to the point where I would want to buy out our Captain. Play him in a lesser role perhaps? Absolutely. 3RW would be ideal.

Well, to add to what my two esteemed colleagues have said, perhaps you're unaware that Quick has the third best GSAX (goals saved above expectations figure) and is ninth in GAA and tenth in save percentage among starting goalies this season?

Try Philadelphia. That package might get you Martin Jones.

I think Ritchie had a breakout with Boston, kinda just being a net presence especially on the PP. But he's dreadfully slow, and really isn't great positionally in any situation. There are tons of these type of guys for 900,000. If Ritchie has an expiring contract, yea maybe he would be worth a flyer, but it's that 2.5m cap hit next season that's a big deterrent.

So you're saying you would like to see the Jets become a lot worse? Mission accomplished.

I don't think Nick Ritchie is the answer to any problem.

You lost me at Stanley for Kessel…. No thanks
Rakell is UFA after this season, so might as well wait and sign him off FA for free
WTF do we need Quick for?
    HELL NO to Ritchie
Why trade for guys to scratch them?
Why trade for taxi squad guys?
