varlamov is a 2ndary option. I feel there are big fish they will try and snag before going to Varlamov. Like if Jarry and/or Campbell go to market the Oilers should go all-in to sign one of them and shed money in other deals to make it possible.

Varlamov is legit and has experience. I like him the most out of all the options

Unfortunately it is not a LT option. a 34 year old with 1YL isn't ideal since the oilers are looking for a longer term solution

I like Forsberg a lot but that's a ridiculous contract for him.

I just wanted to go to a high enough number where nobody questioned whether or not he signs. I think he could fetch at least $8m on the open market. Same for Gaudreau and Hertl. It won't be cheap but one of them really needs to be an Islander next year

Price for Varlamov is likely just a single 2nd. Maybe another depth piece or prospect but 2x 2nds is probably high.
