Can't see Minnesota doing that at this point. They need Rask a lot more than they need Koskinen, especially right now

With the current injury bug that has bit the Wild, we must decline. Rask brings us a healthy, NHL-level body right now. Maybe if you retained more on Koskinen, so that we could save money for the deadline by making this move...?

Well, it depends how you value Lavoie. Personally, I would want a different prospect

That is of course IF Ottawa can't extend him and is forced to trade him.

Mmm, the most I'd do is another 500k without getting some kind of late pick back as, like Koskinen, Rask isn't an 'asset'.

Not sure there are other prospects I'd be willing to swap in for Lavoie without changing the pick. Any idea as to who you'd aim for? In my eyes, Bourgault, Holloway, and Broberg aren't on the table for Brown unless you're taking Kassian.

You do realize Edmonton's 1st round pick is now a lottery pick, per tankathon?

And that there's no lottery protection being asked for here?

Ottawa should take this and run.

Yep, but for now a pure 1-for-1 swap makes no sense for us. The Oilers are trying to contend, as well, so I understand why retaining more might not be ideal.

Oh didn't look at the standings lately, this changes everything

What a bad spot the Oilers are in. They HAVE TO contend but can't risk putting their 1st on the table. Even if that pick ends up around 15th, there's a HUGE difference with a Tampa pick around 30th

So yeah IF the Sens know they won't be able to extend Connor Brown (which you know, would be a big mistake), then yeah they should take this and run.

Well I'd take Kassian to get one of these if it was in my control but everything goes through Melnyk...

Without Kassian, I don't know who I'd replace Lavoie with, I don't know their prospects enough and I know the 3 you named would be too much to ask

Fair enough! I saw him on waivers and Talbot being injured, I figured it'd be a viable option. Thanks for your input!

I wouldn’t mind Carter Savoie instead of Lavoie. Doesn’t have the same draft pedigree but still a good prospect and would provide the unique opportunity of running a pair of brothers if Ottawa happens to take Matthew Savoie this year.

But I completely agree that I’d gladly take on Kassian if it meant upgrading to one of those other prospects listed. The format of the trade is sound. 1st and an okay prospect.

Count me in.
