The Jets need right handed shots so badly.

He would be a great player to acquire for the Jets, but put Stanley in the deal instead of the Veselainen and/or Gawanke prospect, they'd be more intrigued, and if you're giving away your first add Beulieu's cap... hit

This has been proposed multiple times and it’s been agreed that it would need to include Schmidt instead of Gawanke, and Beaulieu would have to go as well
Schmidt + Vesalainen + 2nd + Beaulieu for Severson no retention

I think the Jets should be selling not buying, also as much as Vesalainen hasn't done a whole lot I think the Jets should move a D prospect or two rather then a young forward if they did make a move like this.

One team can only retain 50%. And max retentions on one contract is 2. So original team holds 50%, third party takes 25%, acquiring team covers the rest.

What would Vesalainen cost alone?

In the description I said that New Jersey isn’t the ones retaining. It’s some 3rd team for the value of the 4th round pick.

Depends. I don’t think the jets are in the place where they would want to move him alone. But what do you offer?

I don’t think Vesalainen is a long term fit and I also don’t think he will be getting anywhere in a jets jersey. I still think he has a bright future but it’s not with the jets. Before discounting the jets from the playoffs, let’s give Lowry some time. We’ve seen some big changes and they are showing good returns so far (overall). Let’s give it some time.

I personally think they make the playoffs.

Not really what the jets would want back. If I’m the jets, I want a big right handed rw prospect with similar upside or a big rd prospect with top 4 upside coming back for Vesalainen. I can’t think of anyone there, can you?

I pretty much agree about Vesalainen BUT look at all the Jets D prospects, its time for some of them to go before they're lost on waivers.

Right-shot forwards:
1 & 2. Tyce Thompson, Graeme Clarke are offensive right-shot forwards. Both are hurt. Tyce had shoulder surgery and is done for season. Clarke is only out a couple of weeks. Both have some upside and can do a lot of things well. Tyce is probably more a NHL certainty. Graeme a bit more upside with his shot.

3. Chase Stillman was picked in 2021 and is still in juniors and not sure what he will become. We hope a power-middle six forward, but has a long way.

4. Fabian Zetterlund is an older prospect, picked after Boqvist in 2017. Has NHL body, is built like a rock (his CF profile is dated...listed as 5'11", 218 lbs on AHL site). Has 17 pts in 20 gp.

5. Nate Schnarr is a right-shot, big center. Not the best skater, but good with puck and nice set of hands. He is not likely to feature at center in NJ with Hughes, Mercer and Hischier blocking him, but is probably McLeod insurance for bottom line. Has 16 pts in 21 gp in Utica.

6. Patrick Moynihan is a former NTDP player in his junior season at Providence. Tons of skill in closer quarters, but needs to refine open ice play and defensive part of his game. (Also is one of Hughes best buds, so unlikely we deal him).

(also, Holtz, but he isn't going anywhere)

RD prospects:
1. Reilly Walsh is likely Subban-replacement and unlikely to be moved.

2. Case McCarthy is another NTDP product who is playing top-pair at BU. Two-way player with a bit of nasty in his game.

3. Viktor Hurtig is a recent draft pick playing in Swedish juniors. Big, 6'5", 6'6" and started the year scoring a bit, but recently changed teams and reviews since have not been great.

(also, Luke Hughes and Shakir Mukhamadullin are both left-shot d-men who have been playing RD over last couple of seasons...but NJ isn't trading either of them).

Tbh, none of those guys really interest me enough to move Vesalainen for. Case McCarthy interests me, but from reports I have seen he doesn’t seem to have top 4 upside. Though I would be interested in Micheal McLeod. He’s big and fast, would be a good fit on the jets. Vesalainen for McLeod?

What about picks? What would you be willing to give there?
