Yeah I thought so but wanted to be safe. I think this is as good as it could get given Holland blundered FA last summer. Got more cap space for the following offseason AND improved the roster for the short and long term which is the goal for now. I know as an oilers fan Samo is highly touted but in reality, he will be a top6 D probably and there are ALOT of LHD in the oilers system that are at or above his level already

I think that you're within reason on both deals. I agree with @lebroyal that you could probably get some retention from Chicago on Fleury.

FYI, under the new CBA, you can't make a draft pick conditional upon a player's signing a new contract any more.
