They’re missing depth scoring. If they add a guy at the deadline (Kessel, Hertl, Toffoli, Pavelski, etc.) that can score, they might be okay. Coleman, Dube, Backlund, and Monahan have only 18 goals combined (at 20-15-15-20 you’d expect them to be close to 30 by now) so they need to wake up. Ritchie sucks and should be scratched, and while Pitlick is fine defensively, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also look for an upgrade on him as well, because he has 0 goals with 3rd line minutes, and that’s not acceptable. Still very good defensively as a team, and Markstrom is good when he’s on (and bad after time off, he hasn’t played in over a week, he's the type of starter that needs to play every 2 or 3 days max to keep his eye in), plus the top line + Mangiapane are good. Vladar has been good for a rookie backup, but he isn’t good enough to play both halves of a back to back against Tampa and Carolina, which is what he had to do last week. Ultimately there’s no excuses. The answer is that we have to score more, mainly forwards 5-8 (I thought Lucic would be our 9th best scorer this year, he’s currently comfortably 5th). Also it would help if Andersson ever scored, he’s got one hell of a slapshot and barely ever uses it, so when he does bust it out he misses cuz he’s out of practice lol (0 goals for a PP1 QB 34 games in shouldn’t happen).
