The best fit for Kane

Created by: CMcAvoy73
Team: 2021-22 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 8, 2022
Published: Jan. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Now, this could all be squashed quick if the league announces a suspension of a period of time rather than games.

He’ll have a lot of teams interested, but I think Boston is the best fit for him.
Why?
1. Meaningful hockey
2. Culture. The bruins have a no nonsense culture that i think would allow kane to either sink or swim.
3. LW depth. He wouldn’t be the guy. He wouldn’t be relied upon. He would be the third line LW.
4. Makes Debrusk way easier to move.
5. RIsk. Doesn’t work? Whatever, Foligno to 3LW.

Ya I’m just not aware of what the hell you’re talking about.

Marchand for one.

Omg, a team has a guy that plays on the edge. Call the cops. Wait, that was a joke. I know habs fans are prone to actually doing that.

Thanks for having the balls to post this. You’re absolutely right about the Bruins being the best fit for Kane. Forgiveness and second chances need the right culture to cultivate and maintain or regain professionalism. Love the ‘no harm, no foul’ swan song. Well done!

And I’m not even necessarily advocating for the bruins doing it, but if i look around the league, the fit is clearly best in boston due to the organizational need, and team culture. It’s a sink or swim situation, and if he sunk in boston, i think the rest of the league could confidently say, “enjoy Russia.”

Yes, I caught that. I tend to read EVERY word and not comment on derision! Unlike some others who replied! Quite entertaining thread, though!!

Nah. You lick someone you lose your "plays on the edge" card. That's firmly in a**hat territory.

So I read your explanation and this entire thread. It doesn't matter now because Kane has signed in Edmonton but I do see one major flaw in your best fit scenerio. Your #3 point was LW depth and that Kane doesn't have to be the man. The problem is, he wants to be the man. He has a big ego and believes he is a first line winger (which he probably is). No way he stays happy playing third line minutes behind Marchand and Hall. Edmonton is probably the best fit because even he knows there are 2 much better players on the team and he will get the chance to play with them. A big part of his success will be because he is utilized as one of the top players on the team.

I can see some validity to this argument. I would guess that I would say I’m not sure how big Kane’s ego is. Never met the guy. When I posted this, I thought there would be limited options, and that maybe the best thing for his career would be to show that he could score at a 20+ goal pace as a middle six winger to change the perception of who he is as a player. I’m also of the opinion that he could play RW almost as well as LW, and given the shuffling of the bruins line, he could open up opportunity for himself to play in the top six on the right side, maybe even with bergeron and marchand, freeing up Smith to be one of the best third line wingers in the league.

I think it’s likely good that the bruins passed, but it would definitely have been a high reward scenario. Imagine if he had come into the Bruins group and culture, and become an option for first line RW. That would have provided a ton of depth.
