Watching a Nurse-Kane scrap at practice would be good.

What could go wrong? Apart from more spinning wheels that ultimately result in McDavid wanting out. You guys must be feeling more and more worried about that.

Haven't seen a goalie traded for 1st at the deadline in a long time. Don't think Varlamov will get one either.

So sick of this narrative McDavid wanting out. He's literally the captain of the ship, he's the face of the franchise, and frankly so beloved in Edmonton. If things don't end up in with a championship, it's not the end of the world. Gretzky left and we still won a cup. The world won't burn down.

Ovechkin and Stamkos took how long to win their first cups? How long were Marleau and Thornton on the Sharks chasing the cup? Just cus Tavares left NYI doesn't mean McDavid would automatically leave. I don't see him as that type of person. Maybe I'm wrong

How much of McDavid's salary will you be willing to retain when he requests a trade? I haven't heard of a single player who enjoyed being Kane's teammate and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Any team considering Kane needs to be honest with themselves. Some teams are simply too fragile or lack the cohesiveness necessary to bear that burden (and make no mistake, he's a burden).

Chances are, if you need him in your top 6 and are elevating him without merit, it's a bad fit. He needs to earn respect from his teammates and trust from management before that's even a consideration.

That means no Edmonton or Toronto. No Winnipeg or Buffalo (obviously). The best fit is a team that doesn't need him and has strong leadership.

McDavid asking for a trade and wanting out when the team literally signs a forward that fits the bill for the next 4 months? Doesn't that scream the team is trying? You think he;s that petty? LOL get real with yourselves. If you're getting paid that kind of money, I don't think you ask out just cus you don't like somebody for 4 months. Be professional and welcome the guy to the team youre captaining. That's leadership.

Have you guys ever heard of us trading for Brandon Manning? The guy that broke McDavid's collarbone? Did he ask out then?

What a lazy take

Players leave for money or because they don't like the team's direction. McDavid will get the money anywhere he chooses. Do you think he's happy with the team's direction? Guarantee that if his contract were up right now, he'd be going elsewhere.
There's been no indication that Edmonton is making progress or willing to do what it takes to win, and their management has been bad for years.

Their last 9 (?) First round picks are still in the organization, yet the defense, goaltending, bottom 6, and top 6 winger positions are a mess. I don't see how any star player could look at that and feel like the team is doing everything possible to support him.

Edmonton has made the playoffs like 4 out of the 6 years McDavid has been here. I'm counting the year we lost to Chicago because we would've made it regardless. The team has underperformed, yes, but so has McDavid during the playoffs. I don't think he's a quitter like all you guys want him to be.

The team signed Draisaitl, Nurse, Nuge to long term deals his best buds. They added Hyman. Holland missed on Keith but its reported that he asked McDavid for his opinion before making the trade and he allegedly approved it due to his experience playing against him in the playoffs.

What else do you have other than speculation? It's embarrassing.

Considering Kosk would be going back it's a first at minimum with a Goalie coming back

Manning doesn't have the reputation of being a locker room cancer who is hated by his teammates. Signing Kane is a HUGE risk, especially for a team that is currently struggling to win games.
You can call my take lazy, but yours is ignorant.

Why do you think we're signing him? Cus we need to win games and he's free. If it meant going far in the playoffs, don't think it matters if he's liked or not. He won't be a permanent fixture in this room.

How's my take ignorant? I literally answered your comment with facts about the real world. You don't ask out cus you sign a rental to help your team win even if hes not the best person - its called being a professional.

I think McDavid values winning games over which player we bring in to our room.

One playoff series win with Mdavid is embarrassing, and that was 5 years ago. Now they are again in danger of missing the playoffs. There's just no sign of progress.
If you want him to sign on for another 8 years and risk not winning a cup, you have to give him more convincing results.
Pittsburgh has traded 8 1st round picks since drafting Crosby. Edmonton has yet to trade one. Tampa has traded 4 of their last 7. Even Toronto has traded 2 since drafting Matthews (at least they are trying).

You're talking like the guy is a pending UFA - he's under contract for 4 years. So much can happen in 4 years. Honestly, I see this team winning 2 years from now. Again, OVechkin and Stamkos spent how long for a Cup? Marleau and Thornton at the Sharks? Of course its frustrating to keep getting bounced in the first round. But he's the captain of this team, face of the franchise, all his friends are signed to long term deals here. I don't think he's asking out in the next 2 years.

My original comment was that he would be looking elsewhere IF he were a free agent now. Hopefully it does change before that happens, because it doesn't matter how nice or dedicated you are if you want a cup and your team isn't providing opportunities.

The Cup is everything. You don't play hockey in the NHL without that being your goal and with Stamkos and Ovechkin, their teams at least progressed. Edmonton has gotten worse

I wonder how long it will take the NHLPA grievance to be resolved if it makes to the arbitrator. The Mike Richards grievance was settled two months after the Kings terminated his contract but that happened before any hearing.

"first of all people change and deserves second, third chances."

If you want your team to sign him, fine but this chances' argument doesn't really work since Kane is well past his third chance now
