To get Gourde, it will cost a lot more than that. Gourde was selected in the draft for a reason. For his cup winning experience and for his leadership qualities. Plus, he plays center, so added value there.

Goalies rarely fetch it but oilers may do it out of desperation assuming he’ll go there

As a Chicago fan, we deserve SOMETHING nice this season. Getting a first for MAF would do it.

I will say, unlike what we would get from the Oilers, DeSmith isnt too big of a cap dump in this scenario. He is a UFA though, so he could just dip after the season, which would definitely not be ideal if he was a main part of the return

I’d say the second and third round picks is the main part of the return

penguins have absolutely no interest. Good luck convincing anyone else to take that contract up.

Fleury? You really want to go into playoffs like last year goaltender wise?

I guess you can call this season divine punishment for the Aldrich-Beach scandal

they didn't lose last year because of goaltending. They lost because they couldn't get pucks in the net as their top lines struggled and the PP was trash.

It's been the same story for the last 3 years. Last thing I'm worried about is the goalie.

We watching the same games? All I’ve seen the last few years is their goalies letting in questionable goals at the worst possible time

I hate to break it to you, but their inability to net more than 2 pucks a game isn't going to win you the playoffs.
When you see scores of 4-1 and 3-2 and then watch a series go from 2-1 to 2-3 then you can start to understand why they don't win.
You need a minimum of 3 goals a game to win in the playoffs. As the average goalie is going to give up 2+ on average. So you need at least 3 to win. They don't do that, and a huge part of that is consistently going 0-3 or 0-4 on their PP.
So don't come tell me about watching games. They can't score. It only gets worse in the playoffs when games get heavy and the team can't make other teams pay for committing penalties. So your best players get slashed constantly, tripped into the boards, and crossed checked all over the place. Which leads to the top lines being ineffective.
If they can't change that they aren't going anywhere, no matter who the goalie is.
