Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 8, 2022
Published: Jan. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Fixing the oilers by primarily trading with Canadian teams. It might be more difficult to get a trade done with an American team due to covid restrictions. So I don't think EDM will be in on too many of the big ticket rentals like Klinberg or Kessell or anyone who would need to waive a NTC.
All of these trades could be done while the oilers have a short schedule break, no need to wait for the deadline because these teams will definitely be sellers.

That said they Oiler need a goalie and I think they shound go for holtby. He's won the cup and is having a good season so you'll need to overpay to get him early before the deadline.

However the oilers need to move heaven and earth to get a goalie. They should go after Holtby I think. Low cap hit, a Stanley cup ring, and he has experience in "must win" high pressure games. You'll need to over pay but it might be worth it if you cant afford to miss the playoffs.

Habs fans would literally go to Jeff's house and burn it to the ground if he traded lehkonen for only a 5th round pick.

At most you send a 2nd round pick for Holtby, Dallas is a defensive team, doubt Holtby would have the same success in Edmonton.

Montreal could get way better then a 5th for Lehkonen, he'd be a good add for the Oilers though.

I don't remember who it was exactly. But it was one of Freidman or Lebrun who said that Lehkonen could potentially fetch a 2nd round or 3rd +. Offering a 5th wouldn't even start the conversation.

We are not giving up Formenton for a cap dump and an AHL prospect that hasn't proven anything yet.

Try again.

Formenton > Lavoie

So that leaves Tierney for Turris (a cap dump) and a 3rd? Ottawa is likely giving up both of the best players in the deal.

Pass. Crazy easy pass.

Why people are always trying to acquire players that they don't know about?

OP Clearly has no idea who Alex Formenton is

There's not a lot of actual Oilers players I'd make him available for. Of course the big 2, Evan Bouchard, maybe Puljujärvi and RNH too

The Sabres seem to really like Bryson. We are gonna have too many left d soon, I am guessing they move Ryan Johnson or maybe Samuelsson before Bryson, just because they likely return more. There's no reason to move Bryson for a 4th though.
