The only way I'd do this if I'm DW is basically is if I have a discussion with Hertl and we basically have an informal but clear understanding that Hertl will sign with San Jose in the offseason and that this is just a chance to make the team better for next season and to also give Hertl a chance at the cup for this current season.

Yes! This is what my mindset was. Also with the ammo that we got from the hertl deal. We can can look into the possibility of dumping vlasic. Would also trade Simek in the off-season. Maybe a 1 for 1 deal if we got a top 9 forward.
