You are missing the point. Most Habs fans, including myself do not think Chiarot is worth a 1st pick. It’s because 4 to 6 teams have expressed they feel close and want to add a dman for the playoffs. If you look around not many ufa’s with a decent salary are available, thus elevating Chiarots value, which teams will “fight” over. This should elevate Chiarots return to the Habs to a 1st round.

It would depend on the other moves that team would make and if they think they can get a Stanley Cup out of it. All of a sudden the 1st is not that bad a trade then is it?!

The Oilers have limited resources and (maybe) limited time, why gamble it all on an unknown because he was hot for a few weeks last May? There are just too many issues with Price (injuries, substance abuse, age, contract, etc) to bother with. Walk away.
