Retool after the Deadline

Created by: Z0ra
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2022
Published: Jan. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A retool may not happen, but if it happens, this is what it will start off as.
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Klingberg, John
Additional Details:
Jets need a RD badly, way too many LD on the team. Stanley causes way too many of the goals scored against us, so I included him in this trade. Dallas also needs a winger so I also added Vesalainen to this deal. Heard that the Stars aren't very high on Klingberg, so I would imagine they wouldn't keep him around.
DAL
  1. Stanley, Logan
  2. Vesalainen, Kristian
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (CBJ)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Is this enough?
2.
WPG
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Boldy, Matthew
  3. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Not sure about Addison, let me know who to replace him with. I picked Minnesota because they are lacking a top line center. Schief can be that center.
MIN
  1. Scheifele, Mark
Additional Details:
I feel like one of Schief or Copp will be dealt at the deadline because of cap space. Also Perfetti would have a better chance of landing a top-six spot with the Jets. Another option for Schiefele would be the Rangers, they also lack centers.

Neither Scheifele or Copp will be dealt if the team is in the hunt come the deadline(which is more than likely going to be the case..) Even if they were to completely lose it and start selling assets, Copp would be the 1st to go, Scheifele will not be going anywhere anytime soon, he's on a very team friendly deal signed for a couple more years...

What is the value for Copp, if WPG doesn’t seem to be in a playoff spot come TDL? 2nd and a B?

It's not a bad offer. But it does not adress our needs. Like you we need RD. So, my guess is that our GM would try to get one in return to JK.

That first round pick is way too much in the future. At worst, I think Dallas accept a 2023 1st round pick.

In summary, not an insulting offer but I bet that it would get outbid.

Nice sell job on Stanley, I can't see why Dallas wouldn't want him after a review like that sarcasm . However, Dallas probably won't trade Klingberg in division and won't wait until 2024 for the 1st, while the Jets shouldn't be giving up that much for a rental.

There is also no reason for the Jets to sell low on Scheifele now.

I wouldn't be shocked if he net a 1st in return, or the one you suggest above, 2nd round pick and a prospect of sorts, something on the higher end but not the A prospects...

Klingberg reportedly wants 8years at 8m per on his next contract, so he’s out…. Plus that’s a lot to give up for a rental

We apparently weren't willing to give up Rossi for Eichel, I don't see why we give him up for Scheifele. I think it would be a really bad idea for us to give up a package like this for him anyways since we're so strapped for cap the next few years and will need Rossi and Addison's ELC's

Makes sense yeah, there’d be a nice market for him. I’ve wanted him in MN for awhile, I think he fits our style. I just don’t see the Jets falling out of contention spot though, so my guess is he stays put and re-signs.

It's Addison and Boldy, he doesn't have Rossi listed here.

For some reason my brain saw Boldy and typed Rossi, but either way the same is true. Buffalo wanted them for Eichel and we didn't budge.

Unless the Center's name is McDavid, Mackinnon, or Matthews. No Center is worth two top 50 prospects.

I get that centers cost a ton, but I wish people would stop overvaluing them, it's getting ridiculous. That is too much for Scheifele.

Minnesota is also lacking in cap space the next couple seasons. Trading a couple key pieces for not only the future, but especially that time period is extremely ill-advised. Especially with Rossi looking good, Hartman blowing up & JEE probing he can be a very, very valuable piece up the middle for the team

The need for a Scheifele type of player is extremely overstated imo
