This has been posted a few times since the news broke yesterday.
Kings decline.
Kings just finished a rebuild that moved a lot of their older players away.
Dustin Brown has been an LA Kings since he was drafted in 2003, his wife is employed by the organization. He has had the opportunity to request a trade since the rebuild. He has not asked to be moved.
Brendon Gallagher has slipped in possession metrics, GPG, PT/60, SOG, and PDO. He is also turning 30 in May with five years on his contract and is currently trending downwards three seasons removed from his last 30 goal season. He also has a M-NMC making it so that if he requests a trade he can dictate the 6 teams he wants to go to, which further cheapens his cost. Is Brendon Gallagher a good player? Yes. Is he worth $5.5Mx5 at 30 years old when the Kings will really need him in two or three years for a cup run? No.
