Chychrun has 3 more seasons at a reasonable number. He’s an immediate impact player. In 3 years from the now, the cap hopefully shoots up a little making it possible to resign him. But worst case, you get a really really good player for 3 seasons. You’re speaking like his a rental.
Broberg is still finding his game at the NHL level.

The Oilers roster clearly needs major changes and if you have the chance to get a player like Chychrun at the cost of futures you do it 11/10 times. I’m generally against trading Broberg, but Chychrun is also the caliber of player we hope Broberg could be.
If the Oilers don’t make a cup finals in the next 3 years, or at least string together some deep runs, i would not fault Draisaitl or McDavid for walking when their deals are up in 3 and 4 years respectively.

Having said that, I have zero confidence is Holland’s ability to make a respectable trade that might require some creativity, so this is all a lost cause anyway

I don't think edmonton will be a true contender until players like Holloway/Mcleod are contributing, skinner solidifies as the 1A and Bouchard becomes a solid defender. If you can get Chychrun for a first rounder, Bourgault, samorukov and throw ins you do it but I don't see the need to trade players like broberg because they realistically don't have their problems fixed till 23-24 and Im not interested in mediocrity followed by one run and done followed by chychrun walking.

I don’t disagree with that. There are too many holes to fill, none of which have been addressed the last 5 off seasons in a row. And Kenny certainly doesn’t have the competence to do it all, especially in one summer.

The problem with planning for 3-4 year down the line is McDavid and Draisaitls deal expire. A decade in the league with 1 playoff round won is going walk them straight to free agency.

In general, I don’t see how Holland is ever going to improve this team. His first summer he had zero cap, so had no choice but to stand by. Last year he flushed all of our cap on Keith’s contract. This off-season we have no space again once JP is resigned and Nurses deal kicks in.

At this point I want them to trade all picks and prospects not named Holloway to get immediate impact players. I was always on the side of staying calm and move futures once you’ve shown you a actual threats to win the cup. Oilers aren’t close to that and are out of money to make additions in free agency. Big trades are needed.

Benson and Lagasson provide some immediate players for Arizona. Ya they are A level prospects but they are bodies that have some upside, more so Benson and maybe play better given a larger role.

The caps end this year so this isn't uncommon for mod season/ TDL trades

Broberg is looking very good but JC is at that level today, not 2-4 years done the road

I think this keeps the man guys here. You do get cap relief when Kieth contract is up and Samarukov or Niem fill in at 3LD.

I do think Barrie will be easy to trade in the future. Kassian not so much.

Goaltending to me is an issue but the last 12 champs have all had homegrown goaltending...

It's 3 solid years. I think you need to take your shot. I don't see a goaltender available today that helps us; I'd rather give Skinner a better look

LD becomes a huge strength with this trade and Oilers get more forward depth.

Kane solves the Oilers need for another top 6 forward and worst case I see McLeod as a bench skater in the playoffs when Archibald maybe back and Nuge takes over 3C. Foegele has enough drive to complaint Leon and Jesse.

Crouse, Nuge, Yamamoto should be a very good 3rd line

I honestly don't think that it takes Broberg to get chychrun. Other Agms are trading far less value like something along the lines of yamamoto, Samorukov and a first and second rounder.

So you remove Yamo and I think you create a hole at 3RW.

I'd be happy with Crouse and Chychrun for Broberg as it really gives Oilers depth and flexibility.

Holloway tales Kane's or Nuges spot next year.

I think Chychrun is very injury prone and he's not far from being oscar klefbom. From what I have been hearing Arizona is trading him because they are afraid he will get hurt and become worthless. Chychrun is not currently playing due to injury and has been playing about 60 games a year(Klefbom). I don't want to sell the farm to buy a lame horse.

YA dont want an injured player. Id be curious what the average missed games is for each player due to injury.
